There are conscripts that were lied to signing the contract.

There was a thing in the news saying that conscripts aren't actually allowed to go into war, so they are made to sign contracts making them "professionals" as part of the invasion.

Yeah I can see young guys being easily pressured into signing something without understanding full ramifications of that decision, especially as war against Ukraine was unthinkable 10 days ago.
 
I won't post it because it shows him patched up albeit a bit bloody from injuries (he's fine) but there's an image going round of a Russian "pilot" who was captured, I use the term "pilot" because he doesn't look how you would imagine a pilot to be, he's rather portly complete with beer belly and moobs, can any pilots on here confirm if you can be an overweight jet fighter pilot ?

It was posted a few pages back, but yes, he seems to be a rather rotund fellow...

Personally I've never had a problem with buying chinese goods but in light of their position in this conflict I'm definitely going to be trying to buy more european goods from now on.

The west has been literally funding this
 
Britons whose presence in Russia is not essential have been told to consider leaving by the UK government.

In updated advice, the Foreign Office says people should leave the country by remaining commercial routes.

Not a pilot, but in the late 1990s I attended a lot of airshows, including one where the Russian display pilot flew straight over from his base near Moscow, displayed before landing for a cigarette and a coffee, then flew off to display in Finland on his way home. I think he took on a bit of fuel for the return leg because of the second display, but the bloke looked like a lorry driver rather than a pilot, despite what he could do with his rather spectacular aircraft. No dodging ground to air missiles in the display though.

This isn't the year I was thinking of, but the second pilot is carrying a little extra weight. Those Su-27s had huge fuel tanks though, so could afford a bit of extra weight in the cockpit.

Must say though, aside from that bit of lighthearted relief it was quite distasteful I thought how the camera was getting right in people's faces as they they tried to get on an evacuation bus, while the reporter was trying to interview people who clearly did not want to talk to her.
