Boris is a disgrace simultaneously trying to convince us that he's "leading the world" in the fight v Russia while giving his pals time to move their money and then refusing to take actual refugees fleeing a warzone.

Its shame on us all; these are women and children fleeing a European country, not Middle-Eastern adults of fighting age.

The Tories are just pandering to the right wing racists who voted UKIP before

"Russia is demanding that Ukraine cease military action, change its constitution to enshrine neutrality, acknowledge Crimea as Russian territory and recognise the separatist republics of Donetsk and Lugansk as independent territories, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
Peskov told Reuters that Russia had told Ukraine it was ready to halt its military action "in a moment" if Kyiv met its conditions.
It was the most explicit Russian statement so far of the terms it wants to impose on Ukraine to halt what it calls its "special military operation" in Ukraine, now in its 12th day."

This sounds like Putin is looking for a way out.

That actually sounds a bit like backing down from his previous demands of regime change ('denazification') and 'demilitarisation'. It's more or less just formalising the current status quo in Crimea and the separatist regions? Neutrality is a tricky one though, I suspect in practice they'd want more than that: a Russian leaning regime.

Don't forget folks some people will take an opportunity in a discussion like this to be the baiter, show off or just vent. It's all opinions and you know what is said about those :D

On a serious note though we need to be thinking long term as will as short term. When the crisis is over what is the world going to look like? Russia/China a new superpower and a new Iron Curtain? Or do we think (obv. outside of Ukraine) there will be an element of forgiveness? For me this is the current issue, do you partially capitulate to make things (possibly) "less worse" or go the other way and make things (possibly) "more worse"? If it wasn't for those "possiblies" I think we'd have our answer. For the record I am illustraing the paradigm and am not on the capitulation side.

I do think we would all be better humans if we focussed on the humanitatrian angle where we can help (the public) and as a country we are not going to come out of this well unless the government start stepping up to the immigation plate. This is of course difficult for them because they are Tories and therefore "one nation" and not "one continent" or "one world". There has been military assistance of course and that is to be appreciated, however at this point you might summarise the UK approach as "Fuel the fighting but stuff the people".

I find it curious that these types of post(ers) seem to come in waves one after the other, it's like they take turns to posit their heavily biased view as though they are trying to find truth. Many similar political threads have followed the same MO over the years, most notably from my experience being the Brexit ones and ones like this. It's almost like a poorly planned, concerted effort...
I’ve thought the exact same for a while now, it’s curious bordering on suspicious.

How can you trust anything these dog turds say? They probably want a way to end this war because they know they can't win it and/or their armies in a mess and can't move and are looking for a way out. Putin and his cronies have done irreparable damage or Russia's image, destroyed it's economy, ruined their puppet state Belarus, killed thousands of people and committed acts of utter barbarity.

I wonder if the US will formally enter the Yemen war as a means to increase Saudi oil/gas production? Maybe something a little less formal but nonetheless impactful to avoid the implications associated with all the rhetoric around Ukraine.

Nobody cares about the Middle East these days, it's old hat.
