Horizon: Forbidden West

Don't go back to HZD after playing this :o I jumped right off a tall structure upon loading up my last save and then realised...no glider.

Thoroughly enjoyed this game, not hammered a game like this for years. Only the Hunting Grounds and Enduring trophy to get now.
Then I'll sell the game, get it again when it's cheap with all the eventual DLC.

Well finished it and now just doing the other bits. I got all the medals in the arena so i have the OP Armour and weapons now. Done all the Bandit Camps and all side missions/errands. I have really enjoyed it. It is a great game.. However.. I do keep experiencing clipping issues in places, particular around camps, its almost as if certain models have not had their boundaries enforced. I still see random objects such as rocks and plants floating in mid air. I often find enemies and items stuck on walls/rocks.

I would have loved to have seen a late game implementation of being able to properly control the machines, either more than one or one big one permanently. I am talking along the lines of something like FC5 where you can send the machines into camps to get the job done in particularly tough areas. How good would it be to rock up to a camp with a Thunderjaw and let it go on a rampage or how about going in stealth with some Stalkers. Yeah they would be OP but if i can take down a Thunderjaw then surely a camp could if they had ballistas etc.

Main quest finished I enjoyed it but not as much as the first. Still have loads to do so will keep me busy for weeks still…..

Granted I've not played it yet but I didn't think the story was going to compare. The first had it all to find out, lots of mystery and was interesting finding out how the world 'ended'.

The endgame grind for all of those Apex Machine parts for the upgrades for the epic tier weapons and armour is now on.. :o

Although its a bit like cheating, did you know that there is an Easy Loot option in the settings? Go to custom difficulty and then enable. When you take down an enemy and loot them you get all of the loot inc parts. So for instance, take down the Tremortusk and if you dont bother using tear arrows you still get the 4 tusks.

I thought the Tremortusk was going to be some really hard boss battle, by the trailers we got, surprised to see it was just a machine that was relatively easy to kill. I am about 50% through now still really enjoying it :)

The melee pit challenge is doing my head in.
R1-R1 pause R1-R1 why is it so hard, I've fluked it one then the next bit is a half moon.

I can do then all in the tutorial but not in the challenge.

Lol that’s the one I got stuck on and couldn’t be bothered.

from the trailer it looked as if the rebels were going to be using the bigger machines as weapons like the tremortusk with the little fort on top of it but as far as I can recall that only happened once throughout the game near the Bulwark and that was it apart from some areas where they were trying to catch them or riding about round the camps and outposts.

Ignore half of what it tells you to do when you're chaining them together. The last R1 of a sequence often counts as the first R1 of the second sequence. I was doing two R1s when you only need one. It's quite confusing.

Also, Aloy's spear glows blue indicating the end of the pause so you should press another button at that point. That's only in certain combos though.

Thanks all done now, first Platinum trophy in a while apart from the melee combo stuff was an enjoyable one.

Finally getting to start this after finishing zero dawn. First impressions are the shimmering in the 60fps mode is awful so it's 30 for me until they fix that, totally immersion breaking.

Didn't enjoy the initial bit before the first open area but starting to really enjoy it now. Which is strange as I'm quite fond of linear games.

Tip. Go straight for the human and kill him with blast sling rounds (they knock him down so he can’t shoot). Pick up his cannon and kill the ravager with it. I was getting annihilated trying to kill ravager first. I switched my tactic and fight was over in 30 seconds. Worth a try if you are struggling.

That did the job, thanks, was very easy, done in 30 seconds!

Back into the game....enjoying it again.

I really want to try Elden Ring, but have promised I will finish Horizon first :P

I have most of the legendaries now, or at least those I’ll use.

I did my first cauldron so that I could finish the hunting grounds. That last hunting ground was tough!

Now onto faro’s tomb. Loving the story so far. I’m in the middle of the escape sequence, but then needed sleep!

No plans this weekend, so hoping to push on.

I gave up on this one last night. Just give me the pit master already. I’ll try again when I’ve got more time. I’ve read some tips that should make it manageable - such a terrible game mechanic.

Does anyone else think the Horizon games would be better suited to a more linear type game, and not so much open world stuff?

I mean I am loving the game, the story is great and probably the strongest point, it could probably work without all the open worldness

They could get rid of some of the crap stuff like racing, melee challenges etc. I’m fine with some of the open word components.

Yeah the racing was boring, my biggest hate was the melee combo stuff, could hardly ever pull it off and that's if I remembered the button combination.

I'm going to buy the game again once any DLC has been released. I'll do all the extra stuff I didn't do outside the trophy stuff, probably play it on a harder setting as well.

Wish they'd hurry up and fix the graphical issues so I can play this. Good reminder to myself that I shouldn't buy a game on release. Could start Frozen Wilds in the mean time I guess.

Path 1.07 dropped today which claims to fix some graphical issues. To be fair; I've not noticed the shimmering issue when playing on performance mode.
