The USA, like China, don't really need to get too involved, when it comes to the crunch they are somwhat self sufficient. they can sit back and watch the fireworks. Biden did stop the keystone oil line and stop some federal lands from pumping oil.
That was a bad move.

Wonder if russia will turn off the gas?

The Chinese government is scrubbing the country’s internet of sympathetic or accurate coverage of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, and systematically amplifying pro-Putin talking points.

Why it matters: China’s wide use of its propaganda and censorship muscle helps insulate Beijing from a domestic backlash against its support for Putin— and leaves its citizens with an airbrushed, false version of events, similar to what’s seen in Putin’s state-controlled Russia.

What's happening: Chinese media outlets were told to avoid posting "anything unfavorable to Russia or pro-Western" on their social media accounts, and to only use hashtags started by Chinese state media outlets, according to a leaked censorship directive.

Online comments expressing sympathy for Ukraine have been deleted; even the anti-war speech given by the Paralympic Committee president during the Paralympics opening ceremonies was censored in Chinese television broadcasts.

Pro-Putin social media posts on Chinese social media were allowed to proliferate, as were posts blaming the U.S. and NATO for the conflict.

Chinese state media have widely aggregated content from Russian outlets including RT, a Russian state-controlled international broadcaster.

It was an incredibly stupid move (approving the pipeline was one of the few things I praised Trump for) but the US is still energy independent.

That'll hurt Europe, but not the US. Still can't get my head around the fact that Europe decided it would be a good idea to become reliant on Russia for fossil fuels. Utter madness.

There was a good video doing the rounds of Putin's long term strategy, which up until Ukraine was working pretty well. Shifting reserves from dollars/US reliance to euros/German reliance; encouraging Germany to stop investing into its military; getting them hooked on Russian gas.

Basically played into his hand perfectly.

Its a rare thing but I agreed with Nicola Sturgeon the other day when she was asked this question - instead of investing in new wells, we should be increasing the investment in renewables. The UK is in a prime position for Tidal and wind based energy, nuclear can then cover the gaps.

Rolls-Royce small scale nuclear is looking promising but like all nuclear, it's years off

We will need to do both over the short to med term.

Did you see the same video?! The turret is aimed at the car, you see it fire two shots, both shots hit the car. Captured on a building CCTV with a follow up from phone footage when people later go to investigate the scene.
