Whilst I agree with the sentiment, its not the best of analogies because we werent the only country who was militarily at war with Germany at the time. Despite the aid being given to Ukraine, they stand militarily alone and it currently looks like it will be staying that way. So that particular analogy doesnt really work in this instance.

We had occupied countries in Europe and the commonwealth. Almost all fighting from island Britain. Later we had the USA join but the period I mentioned was analogous in more ways than one. I won't labour the point as it is off topic and I may get sanctioned.;)

russians have lost more tanks than most countries have. I know they are touted as have multiples more but I’d suggest it won’t be long before they can’t field working ones in meaningful numbers. With no air cover their ground troops have no chance of moving over such a huge country without being picked off or supplied.

Something is going to give in the next week. Just hope they don’t double down on stupid.

With the way you lot report Russian losses I'm amazed Russia have even a single soldier left standing let alone any hardware.

Surely at this point it should be Russia asking for assistance :p
 
Some of these Generals might have been popped off by Putin, there will be growing discontent in the army, the war is a good cover for Putin to get rid of them and also instils fear in the rest. Plenty of examples in history, Stalin did it quite often.

Pity that we'll never see a reverse invasion. Ukraine rolls around Moscow, providing humanitarian corridors before shelling the government buildings, FSB HQ, and othordox churches. The rounding up the war criminals, installing a democratically elected parliament and then returning to Ukraine taking one of the Nuke launch keys with them so neither Russia or Ukraine could launch them.

Issue is that Putin has sowed the seeds of conflict for years to come.

oh I don’t doubt Ukraine is taking heavy losses too, just that the Russian rate is very high and would have already exhausted most other countries supply when talking about hardware. Since their budget isn’t that much higher than other countries and there’s videos of some really old kit being trained in it’s not that big a stretch to suggest it isn’t sustainable.

I'm not sure why you have to make it personal against Kisin. The guy is Russian and has relatives in both Ukraine and Russia. Unless you have relatives there then he knows more than us about the situation on the ground.

I agree about the untrustworthyness of Putin. Though we are getting propaganda from both sides so it can be difficult to know what is true. I think the general attitude of Putins and his minions as been disgraceful and unconstructive.

I'm not sure if arming countries works. The US did that for Britain, China and ironically the Soviet Union during WW2. But still had to get involved.

I've read the background information on Ukraine and I know why the Russians would be nervous at the prospect of Ukraine joining NATO, even though NATO (and the EU) have repeatedly stalled their application. It seems like Putin as become paranoid and as overreacted.

On another question, does anyone know what Z means?
