Ukraine Invasion - Please do not post videos showing attacks/similar

Seeing a twitter video which "looks" authentic of the first combat use of the Su-57 PAKFA dropping some unguided bombs at very low level on a bridge at twilight (or very early morning).

I'll not embed the video to avoid the "do not show attacks" rule but I think it's OK to post a link, you don't see anything much anyway.

Impossible to tell due to video quality if it's an Su-57 or an Su-24. Hell going by the junk Russia have been sending on the ground it could even be a MiG-27 pulled out of storage xD

Ah yes, the incredibly powerful and influential neo-Nazi party of Ukraine, which has never held government, and captured an impressive ~1.4% of the vote at the last election.

Did anyone see video of the Ukraine police cars ambushing and shooting the former deputy head of the Main Directorate of the SBU in Kyiv and Kiev region, Dmitry Demyanenko.

Dmitry Demyanenko is a Ukrainian musician. I doubt he was ever deputy head of the Main Directorate of the SBU in Kyiv and Kiev region, but we live in interesting times, so anything is possible. Where has this alleged shooting been reported, and who captured the alleged video?

Could be Russia isnt sending its airforce to combat in Ukraine because it wants to save it for later, perhaps stage 2 of this war? Probably save it for something more serious later?

Google translate Let me down on that one but the video is on a Russian telegram. Prob a load of crap then

edit- It’s on Reddit but can’t post here as it’s the attack. Seems he ran a checkpoint anyway and no surprise more than one person can have a name

Russian air force is already doing a pretty good job with bombs right now, and Ukraine doesn't have much of an air force to fight in the first place, so I think Russia can afford to take it slow on this front.

Well assuming we are sending them starstreak missiles, then they're even more screwed the longer they wait.

Is Russia effectively another North Korea now, except with actual nuclear weapons?

How does this war in Ukraine actually benefit them long term? Unless it's the starting point for something bigger and they plan to take more territory?

the russian airforce is nowhere to be seen from day one, well at least not the numbers we expected them to. Weird conflict indeed, without air support troops are doomed.
It's because they failed to take out Ukraine's SAM network with the sneak attacks on the first day. With the network active the majority of their air force would stand as much chance as their tanks have, and they can't afford to buy new planes. Not that they can afford to buy decent tanks either, but they have a lot more tanks to sacrifice.

i also read an article today that the ex soviet republics who are dependent on Russia's economic support are doomed too, if i remember correct 40% of Kyrgyzstan GDP is Russian related, thats a huge number.

Starfish Prime - look it up if you want to learn about Nuclear Electro Magnetic Pulse (or Soviet Test 184) its also the test when ER effects were tested as well.

The combat from Russia does seem rather odd. It's almost as if they are unwilling to actually win it by committing appropriate resources. Either that or their military is nowhere near as operational as they would have us believe.
Put it this way, if they had the aviation resources and precision munitions they are supposed to have, wouldn't they have done a "shock and awe" style attack on all Ukraine's air defenses and aviation capability?
Really not sure what to make of it to be honest.

Well the recent problem which ended up in Russia invading in 2014 started in 1991 with the collapse of the USSR, which people who understand that problems don't just "appear" one day understand. However if you believe absolutely nothing happened between the Ukraine and Russia and then "suddenly" Russia just attacked completely out of the blue then I would suggest spending some time catching up on the history of the region, it'll really help with understanding the current situation, unless you're happy to accept a simple "Russia bad M'kay" instead.

You could argue it goes back to 1917 as well. The point I’d like to make is you can also understand all that and still come to the conclusion Russia is in the wrong.

eta - no idea what went wrong there!

You're totally right (Ianh), WW2 is the fault of France, Czechoslovakia and Austria, but if you just want to belive the narrative of Germany bad m'kay

Ukraine is being used as a pawn by global wannabe leaders to draw Russia into a conflict and paint it as the bad guy so they can sanction the economy out of it and ultimately destroy it so they can fulfil their plan of a centralised world.
I assume the mods just keep you around for comedic effect these days.

No they are not another N Korea,
Russia have top 2 or 3 military power in the world and are allied with a top 3 military in the world and are largest country in the world.

15 days since the war started, and Ukraine is still holding out. The next 5 days could be crucial. If Ukraine can resist for 20 solid days, Putin will have a nightmare on his hands.

Also, why are all the turrets from tanks and APV's sit next to the burned carcasses of the chassis? Probably a faulty russian design?

Boom outside causes boom inside.

It doesn't.

Putin severely misjudged how well their military would do against Ukraine, how opposed Ukrainians would be to getting conquered, and how hard they west would respond. This is generally what happens when a dictator surrounds himself with people who only ever agree with their ideas and give them feedback they like.

He would have expected/hoped to have taken Kiev in the first week after which he could simply declare Ukraine and it's military defeated and anyone still fighting insurgents (like we did in Iraq), the west to get very angry and throw ineffective sanctions but basically do nothing as they/we did in response to his invasion of Georgia or annexation of Crimea, and for his army to achieve a great victory that maybe even showcased some of their current weapons to perspective buyers.

What he's got is an outright disaster of epic proportions. The worlds second most powerful military is struggling against the worlds 22nd most powerful military on the ground and losing in the air, his economy has been wrecked by sanctions the like of which have never been seen before, his equipment is failing all over the show and his army being outright embarrassed to the point many military experts are questioning if Russia should still be ranked above China in the military powers table.
