Do you any examples of these supposed buffer states?
I think you've been in the discussion long enough to understand what a buffer state is. Or is this an antagonistic question?

The big unknowns are the states of these other titanium manufacturers and if they have the necessary capacity.
I am not aware of any actual buffer states (that russia has invaded). Assuming we have the same definition of a buffer state. Could you name them please?I think you've been in the discussion long enough to understand what a buffer state is. Or is this an antagonistic question?
Apologies for the ignorant question, but I was pondering this on my commute this morning and I didn't know what the answer was.

Whatever you are looking for or find it will not justify the invasion unless we've been blinkered to a Ukraine attack on official Russian soil. Not even the Russians have claimed that (note my use of official).

Putin "we're ready to quickly talk about your surrender".
It looks like China has said to Putin - make a deal, cut your losses, remain in power and fight another day as the state is now in lockdown.
Meanwhile Ukraine, the russia invaded buffer country, is simply asking that Russia abide by it's agreement to honour the sovereign status and get out of Ukraine. I suspect the west will ask the Ukrainian government as part of the EU to clamp down on neo-nazi groups as part of EU law.
I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to see this has been planned for a long time.

What does this mean ?
"I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to see this has been planned for a long time." ?
Which part has been planned?
World leaders sat down together and say " Putin, I want you to make up a reason and invade Ukraine, kill women and Children". "China, I want you to do nothing". "Europe, we want you to stand by outside. "Ukraine, you can join EU after".
I am confused, how does one plan a failure of an invasion and large economic sanction? Just for Ukraine to join EU?
So other than some minor land grabs, which is seems like Ukraine refuses to give up, what has Russia actually gained out of this conflict?
- Return of the Soviet style of rule.
- Ability to further push the state held narrative at home.
- Compliance of the population.
- Broken away from the West and the ideals we hold.
- What else?
The losses are just immeasurable (off the top of my head):
- Lost credibility as a superpower.
- Military is exposed as an underinvested, badly trained and equipped embarrassment.
- Loss of countless men / troops / equipment.
- Brain drain, load who can are leaving.
- Massive withdrawal from the country (current / future investment).
- Economy in tatters, loads of money held abroad, cut off from the world banking system.
- Credit rating is worse than junk.
- Diplomatic relationships shot, seen as a pariah state.
- Load of countries now seeking energy independence and turning away from Russia as a provider, which makes Russia's political clout less effective in the future.
- Galvanised NATO, massive future investment.
- EU have come together, cut red tape and actually doing things quickly.
- Exposed those around the world who are willing to stand up to what is right (most countries).
- The idea of making masses of lands into Neutral spaces seems to have failed.
- More countries to push for NATO membership.
- NATO borders and weapon systems will now be closer to Russia.
- Everyone now sees through Russia's lies.
Could this have gone any worse?
Honestly if Russia didn't have nuclear weapons as a threat they would have been rolled even harder in Ukraine, good lesson never to give up our deterrent!
