Ukraine Invasion - Please do not post videos showing attacks/similar

This wouldn't have avoided war. Joining NATO and/or posting NATO troops in Ukraine would have done. This isn't about NATO it is about stopping Ukraine becoming a prosperous, Western democracy. Ukraine has too many Russian speakers and too close ties with Russia. If it prospers, Russian's will know and the contrast with their mismanaged country will be stark.

Of course had Ukraine been part of NATO then Russia would never have attacked Ukraine and I have never been one of those who claimed otherwise.

But there are plenty of members here who are convinced that Putin will be invading Poland next even though it is a NATO member.

Maybe you should have quoted one of those when they said it because plenty believed Russia would not stop after Ukraine.

No footage of any rescue operation, no bodies, no ambulances.
2 days later, told people still trapped/Rescue operation underway.

Of course snapping pictures for western media and sharing videos of dead bodies is main priority. Rescuing comes 2nd. It’s especially easy and important to do while being in the war zone.

Yes I think we did, which is why Britain was arming and training Ukraine before the invasion.

What gave? Pretty much the entire Russian advance on every front. I never said it would end in a week.
Russia will never be able to take the whole country, they’ve lost.

Firstly I was not one of those who said Russia was going to take the whole country, I said at most he would take the capitol to install a puppet government but I have repeatedly said if Ukraine agree not to join NATO then that should be enough for peace.

But the more time that goes on and deeper Russia get into Ukraine then more concessions will have to be made.

The only reason putin is picking on the likes of Georgia and Ukraine is BECAUSE they are not NATO members. He sees them as small fish in a big pond and thinks they are easy pickings.
He sees them as Russian territory even though they are independent nations.

You don't see the bully picking on Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania... It doesn't take a master strategist to figure out why.

I've heard it likened to if China attempted to put a military base in Mexico, how the US simply wouldn't allow it.

Russia won't touch a NATO country militarily (that doesn't stop them using other forms of attack), but they will not stop at Ukraine either. Putin wants to create a Russian sphere of influence, and weaken the West at every opportunity.

I just assumed it was because most people had been evacuated.

Whataboutery aside we can be fairly sure strikes on civilian sites are typically mistakes by the yanks, it'd serve no military objective to actively target civilians. They wanted Saddam gone too. Can the same be said for Russia? Who're trying to cow the Ukrainian people? I don't think so. I think once their blitzkreig failed they've reverted to breaking the peoples will.

You're also comparing the bombing of the maternity hospital in the early stages of the war, when civil authorities could still move about, to now. And don't be coy with your suggestion it might have been staged by highlighting the pictures of the '1' lady, just come out and say it. She died with her baby btw.
The city is besieged now. You're expecting them to be able to just dial the local fire brigade and expect them to be able to turn up and operate when vast areas of the city is an active warzone?
That building was marked as having children sheltering there. The early fears were that it had been sheltering 100s if not a couple thousand people. If it was in use like that then it would have been a catastrophe. It appears there were a lot of people but in the basement. Hadn't heard much since aside rubble needed moving. So hopefully most got out ok. The city is without power so yeah, internet will be pretty much out for a lot of people so information will be sketchy.

You're then making claims the Ukrainian nazis may have done it and post a link of some white helmets who staged a rescue trying to say... what exactly? The Ukrainians are tying to make the Russians look bad by faking attacks? I'll give you a clue, the Russians don't need help in that department. The whole world is watching them systematically flatten villages and the cities they can't take block by block. There's footage of them using mlrs in residential areas. They've hit numerous hospitals. We know they know where those are so the amount of times they've hit them can't be mistakes. We've seen them do the same in Syria - repeatedly.

Holland did
Belgium did
Luxembourg did
Denmark did
Norway did
Poland did
Yugoslavia did
Greece did

All these countries were invaded by Hitler, as in they had actual Germans fighting in the streets of their cities, and all had Governments who surrendered to stop the carnage, some almost immediately and some after fighting for a while. "Those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it" said someone far smarter than you apparently.

I’d counter that by asking who do the people demanding they essentially surrender think they are? It’s the Ukrainian people who get to say if they should fight on and it appears they very much want to.
Not only that but they appear to be winning with the Russians taking losses that are unsustainable the longer this goes on.

I absolutely 100% agree and thats what I was saying - it's their choice and not some random person on the internet hiding behind their keyboard who is calling for them to fight to the death.

I'm saying, quite clearly I thought, that a random internet person shouldn't be the one telling the Ukrainians to sacrifice their kids in a fight to the death just because the random internet person is angry. As per my post, it's not our choice, it's theirs to make.
