Given his recent speeches Putin has gone full tyrant with some shades of fascism - you, I, Ukrainians who don't embrace Russia, Russians who don't embrace his grand vision are all a lower class, to come to a compromise agreement with a lower class for Putin would be humiliating - any agreement made would be sooner or later for the benefit of Putin. Hence I don't think he is interested in an off-ramp or saving face as some would suggest and no diplomatic solution as you said would be worth anything.

He's done and needs ousting. No way forward now he's regressing to Jong-Un like mentalities.

As expected, increasingly lethal weapons being used including hypersonic missiles. When will first nuke be used?
With all the willingness from even the West to find a peaceful solution, but less so from Russia (just playing the diplomacy game IMO), it seems like no way back for Russia. Whatever the agreement is that ends the war, the world has changed, and Russia are not going to be given their place in the world back anytime soon. Sanctions until Putin is gone at minimum.

Sorry, who was narrow minded in that story? Did I miss the bit where his wife refused to go with her?
I meant people are narrow minded and somehow manage to blame random citizens of say Russia or china for mistakes or doings of their government. Which is why the Russian lady didn’t want to tell them she’s Russian and why many Chinese etc got attacked racially etc when covid kicked off.

i think they used hypersonic missiles to attack an underground warehouse full of expensive stuff. I hope that failed or that is a real blow to ukraine

Does anyone else think the EU might opt for a limited sanction of oil/gas in the summer when it's least needed?

It would be counter-productive if they did, all it would do is push up global prices so Russia makes even more when they sell it elsewhere.

But I guess at least we aren't ourselves actually paying directly to the Putin meat grinder.

We'd never get to the position of being barraged by artillery in the first place because Russia's air force and armoured corps would be obliterated in any conventional war (obviously not without some pain), but the Kremlin knows that and so can only really threaten a nuclear exchange which they foolishly think they can survive without Russia imploding into hundreds of statelets (like Chechnya).

I can understand why we're not wanting a NATO no fly zone. But it feels like we've setup this moral barrier and think we're taking the high ground while a massacre is going on inside Ukraine.

If Hitler had WMD are we saying we wouldn't have gotten involved in WW2?

At some point we need to set a deadline for this and take over the narrative, instead of just letting Putin have this endless war going on

It might be time to at least lay down ground rules for outside of Ukraine i.e. don't attack Moldova, Finland or Sweden.

Agreed. Just one correction: Hitler had chemical weapons, which are classified as WMD. Fortunately, he did not use them extensively on the battlefield.

I expect that if Poland do start sending 'peacekeeping' troops to Ukraine like they are planning then it may pave the way for other countries to do the same.

I think the more Russia push west the more nervous other countries are going to start getting and will almost have to commit to stopping the push well before it hits their borders.

You don't get 3 leaders on a train to Ukraine to talk about just sending more equipment.
