Really thats the media's fault they've lost interest its still blanket coverage on CNN for instance, over here they've gone back to their intensely myopic obsession with Partygate again - though to be fair thats also Labour's fault for having nothing else worth discussing other than partisan politics (war in ukraine, rising covid cases? Hello?)
It's partly because the UK were training and arming Ukraine that they have been able to put up such a fight (not trying to take anything away from the bravery and fighting ability of the Ukranians, which has been amazing).

UK was providing training but I don't think weapons were being sent until the week or two prior to the invasion? So the irony of party gate was it probably helped stem the initial tide of Russian incursions because I do wonder how much Boris would have really been interested if he didn't need a release valve from domestic issues.

Yes partygate did save Boris Johnson's skin. I did enjoy blasting my local Conservative candidate about it when he knocked on my door yesterday.

Awful Ive seen stories around where 30 year old women was raped repeatedly multiple soldiers whilst her husband was killed outside.

No doubt there will be many sickening stories like this coming out have to say until you hear them intercepts dosnt really hit home.

Would be so good if Ukraine was able to blow up some of them ships will they be able to get some equipment for that?

Its war so anything goes.

Even in war there ought to be boundaries that aren't crossed as it will always cast a shadow which if nothing else is strategically unwise. Perhaps the likes of Poland would have felt less need to be defensive after the USSR fell if such boundaries had been respected decades prior.

Just seen that due to how badly Russia's invasion of Ukraine has gone Japan are now claiming sovereignty of some of the islands between themselves and Russia, guess everyone's lining up to poke the paper bear now word is out their military are a joke xD (Islands in question were Japanese until 1945 but occupied by Russia during WW2 and ceded to Russia as part of their surrender).

Eighth Russian colonel Denis Kurilo killed in Kharkiv, Ukraine claims

Western officials believe that around 20 Russian generals were deployed to Ukraine,
meaning that if all the reported deaths are confirmed,
nearly half have been killed in action since the invasion started on 24 February.

War often comes with a breakdown of civilisation - bringing out both the best and worst in people often without the normal binding of civilisation - especially more brutal regimes often just don't care as to those aspects in war especially as they generally work to the premise of being the victor and little concern for a longer term political picture.

Hopefully the faces of their victims will burn in their minds until the day they finally have the courage to blow their own brains out.

Many nations in history did their share of very dirty deeds such as firebombing Cities full of women and kids. Not naming any names because people get very upset if you do

Oh you mean Dresden - where more were killed in 1 night than over the entire `Blitz` ....

There are lots of debates to be had about wartime bombing - whether the end justify the means, whether the 'ends' were worthwhile, whether it was effective, whether it saved lives overall in certain cases, does it matter if different countries had different aims at different points in the war...

For example, could be argued that the firebombing of Tokyo contributed to the end of the war by convincing the Japanese leaders it was futile to go on and their entire nation would be wiped out. Maybe it saved lives in total compared to a possible fight to the death between armed citizenry and US soldiers.

Could be argued that the Germans thought they could convince Britain to give up, which from their point of view would have been good for their chosen race and their war prospects.

Could be argued the firebombing of Dresden hurt war logistics and prevented house to house fighting between German defenders and Soviet troops, perhaps saving lives overall and hastening the end of the war in Europe.

However, raping women and executing men in cold blood (which was the context of where the comment thread came from) looks pretty bad in basically all those categories. Justifications are pretty thin in the ground.
