Yes but at least he’ll get involved rather than sitting on his hands and watching. Volunteer, take food, sanitary etc over there. Few people I know have done that.

My brother is over there, he was in Lviv helping mercs find the gear they need and trying to keep in contact with them, he travelled to Kyiv with a reporter yesterday now it's a little safer.

Lots of very nasty sounding stuff appears to have gone on, not sure how Russia comes out of this.

Hopefully the sanctions will remain until the country completely changes direction, if Russia retreat back to Crimea and things go back to business as usual it will be an absolute outrage.

One of the AN-225 pilots doing a walkaround of the wreckage of the airfield after the VDV troops left -

Maybe this is just my "western" military training talking, but I can't understand for the life of me why these "professional" VDV soldiers (rather than untrained conscripts) who fought at Hostomel would be stealing pictures of planes from a wall or smashing a Logo of the airline etc. I can understand taking aircraft manuals, diagrams etc as EXINT (EXploitative INTelligence) if you were hitting a military base and taking that tech data that might have secret codes etc but not An-225 stuff, thats just really dumb.

It literally feels like barbarians destroying a settlement rather than a members of a "professional" army taking/defending a strategic location and the VDV are supposed to be the elite of their conventional troops yet have shown themselves to be unprofessional idiots with virtually no "skill", either in combat vs Ukraine or in their ability to exploit an intel they find.

The defense ministry said Russians are selling "washing machines and dishwashers, refrigerators, precious jewelry, cars, bicycles, motorcycles, dishes, carpets, artworks, children's toys, cosmetics."

I'm seeing a lot of that during their pull-out, amongst other more horrific things, and it's just a further indicator of how utterly crap the Army's morale/ethos is that soldiers would reduce themselves to basic barbarianism and yet still call themselves soldiers.

There's footage of it... I'm not sure what the reason is for your disbelief, there have been reports/videos etc. of them killing civilians all through this conflict from random stuff like a family driving along a road and their car taking fire to the infamous clip of an elderly couple simply having their car destroyed by an IFV etc.

The recent clips show a liberated city with random civilians dead in the street + men with hands tied behind their backs.

Disbelief at this point is kinda naive tbh.. especially when the tweet is right there for you to simply click on and is quoting a tweet with the footage.

Cleansing all 16-60 year old males? That's what the claim is.

Civilians being killed, many deliberately that I can believe.

And so far evidence from the twittosphere is backing up these claims. Literally people lined up and shot with their hands tied. Anyone who could potentially fight back just shot/executed.

Incredible if true that is a widespread policy.

I think we're going to be seeing an awful lot more of this as Ukraine re-capture areas that have been held by the Russians.

The amount of death in these villages is concerning not only because it's an utterly horrific waste of life but also Ukraine wanting revenge, this is how things escalate into Ukraine actually wanting to destroy Russians and Putin's original claims of Russophobia and Ukrainians exterminating them become true, then he's probably justified in his mind and millions of Russians to use any means possible to put to rest the Ukraine problem

It looks like the Russians are in full retreat in the north of the country. Ukraine is recapturing territory at such a rate they can't update the maps quick enough.
Problem is, unless Ukraine are willing to eradicate the retreating forces form the air like we did in Iraq it still means they can't redirect/send additional forces south to help with the war down there because if they do the Russian forces may resupply and advance back down. So while this is a fantastic victory for moral it's not as massive as some news outlets are making it out as.

I had some sympathy for the Russian conscripts sent in at the beginning of this. That feeling has long gone. Animals. :(

Yeah, they are chasing after them though, I think they will try to keep them engaged somehow, if they cross the border to Belarus the Belarus army might be waiting for them, I don't think the Russians will fully trust the Belarus army though, some of them might want to change sides from what I have read.

I hope seeing what comes back stops any plans Lukashenko have of joining this war.

I hope so! That fat #### who is in charge right now also needs a bullet in the head

Russia is expending a huge investment on it's attempt to replace trade through the Suez Canal, would be a real shame if we accidently closed our borders completely...

The other benefit would be to irritate China who will find little use for Russia on it's Belt & Road Initiative if it can't use it to trade with the rest of Europe, this would serve to please Turkey and the Balkans as a side bonus.
