Why didn't they test games instead synthetic benchmarks? When it comes to leaks they always first test unimportant workloads that show nothing, the whole point of this model is gaming performance, people will buy it only for gaming, and showing some geekbenchs and similar tests is funny and useless.

Yeah, it's an absolute waste of time, especially when AMD themselves said it won't offer gains in certain tasks.

Anyone looking at this CPU is interested in the gaming performance first and foremost.

If that is indicitive of how it pewerforms accross multiple titles its a winner, hell even if it looses out to the 12900KS bya couple frames at neraly half the price it will be a winner. Wonder what the usual suspects will come up with then to complain about......

If you game at sub 720p lowest settings, knock yourself out.

720p ha ha ha ha pointless test.
It's not pointless when that's the only way to show the true difference with current GPUs. New GPUs coming out this year are rumoured to be twice as fast or even more and then this will matter at much higher resolutions too.

Also, 1% lows will show a bigger difference.

The thing is cpu's are tested at low resolutions to show the difference, but if cpu x is stronger than cpu y that will be reflected at higher resolutions, even if the difference is smaller.

Also don't underestimate average fps with the lows too. That can make a massive difference to smoothness.

All of that aside though, can no one see the value in a cheap cpu being as good if not better than one which is nearly £800 for gaming?

There will be appeal to people already on AMD who want a cheap upgrade.

Of course overall the 12900k is better, you could argue buying a cheap 5800X would be a better buy than the 5800X3D. But for someone that only cares about gaming? Why spend more.

No doubt Zen 4 will be ready for 3d cache if needed, architectural change combined with better 3d cache integration will result in brutal gaming performance.

Except all the rumours point to Zen 4 not having 3D cache, and it being added to separate chips later.. which kind of sucks as it's milking instead of releasing a killer chip from the get go.

Because all rumors say that Zen 4 will destroy RPL even without 3d cache so it is logical that AMD won't release special version if not needed.
