COVID-19 (Coronavirus) discussion

What's the rest of the world doing where they can't blame Boris and Biden...Trump?
Does anyone know of any other decent travel vlogs on youtube, Harald and Benjamin don't seem to be doing anything much these days.
I Mention them as Ben has shown how it is in Russia for a couple of years now but since the war i'm missing the content.

Simon Calder is usually fairly clued up if you're after travel advice. I've travelled a bit over the last 2 years (not as much as usual) but the rules have substantially changed since then. Having just come back from France other than the Brexit fiasco it's as if there's never been a pandemic (albeit we didn't go on a plane,).

I have just got back from Majorca with my parents, all 3 of us got it, my dad was coughing loads and my mum was in bed for a couple of days. I was mostly fine though. We have all been triple vaxxed. Came home on the plane, they can't stop you now. I think it is a case of everyone is going to get it at some point so who cares.

What an unbelievable selfish attitude

We can't hide from it forever, with omicron being milder than previous variants and most people being vaccinated you have to take your chances, we didn't break the law.

Are you the kind of guy that goes into work with the flu just to give it to everyone else as well?

I'll take that deflection as a yes, then. All you've done is try to justify being a selfish git instead of admitting it (the option of purchasing FFP3 masks to wear on the flight is always an option, but I bet you didn't do that either).

I don’t personally wear a mask unless I have to which I did when I donated blood this week.

But I work in a school have had 3 covid vaccines and had Omicron at the end of January so a mask isn’t going to do me much good considering where I work.

Though we barely got any covid positives this wave, it went through the school rapidly in December and January though which is probably why.

What do you expect us to do, book another week in a hotel and book new flights and stay in Spain for another week, get a grip. Perhaps you can afford that.
Most people have morals, which you seem unbelievable short on.
considering taking out the correct holiday insurance policy would cover you for an extension and change of flights after testing positive, so yes I would have expected most people that don’t just care about themselves to extend until they test negative.

I didn't have to take a test to get in to Spain, so perhaps the Spanish government is also wrong, or maybe its finally over.

Anyone who thinks Covid is over is woefully ignorant, and just because this current variant seems less lethal than others does not guarantee that the next one, and there will be others, won't be far more lethal.

If anything, this pandemic should have changed for the better how we as a species conduct ourselves on this planet. Precautions need to be taken, consideration of the lives of others should be important too. But no, selfish idiots keep doing selfish things and so it keeps spreading. It might not be against the law but it flies in the face of common sense.

Imagine just for a moment if when this started we went in to a real lockdown similar to New Zealand and that the rest of the world followed suit. I mean everyone except truly essential frontline staff were forced to remain in their homes for 3 months. All borders entirely closed for travel. How many lives could have been saved?

Yes because Chinas policy of zero covid is really working, we have vaccines now and viruses get less deadly and more transmissible as they evolve, we should be doing something, and that is to get China to sort itself out before they create another pandemic by eating wild animals.

Ironically, China's policy isn't working because people like you kept spreading the virus until it mutated into one of the most infectious agents known to man. It could have been stopped if action was taken the moment it was discovered in late December/early January. Too bad decision paralysis and people pretending it wasn't a big deal have sealed us into a fate of chronic illness.

No they don't. This is myth. Smallpox didn't do that for millennia, flu hasn't done that for millennia. COVID has had one milder strain out of many successive deadlier ones, and suddenly it's all good? Not how it works.

So not only do you demonstrate a massive amount of seemingly wilful ignorance, you also freely spout good old fashioned casual racism. Unless this virus was a deliberate weaponised release it is irrelevant where it came from. What isn't irrelevant is the actions by all that should have been taken. Hundreds of thousands of lives could have been saved but for idiots spitting their dummies out about restrictions. I genuinely hope that your family members are fine and have no lasting effects but if anyone on that plane or anyone they come into contact with gets seriously ill and dies you have blood on your hands

Why is it irrelevant where it came from, multiple viruses have come out of China now and its where the next one will likely come from. And besides China is a country, not a race and their laws allow it to happen. I'm not spitting my dummy out over restrictions, I'm following the law. It isn't my problem you don't like the law.

The law doesn't say you have to get on a plane having a potentially fatal infectious disease. That was your choice.
