COVID-19 (Coronavirus) discussion

you would think after 2+ years of this people would have educated themselves on how this works and you wouldn't need to explain yourself but I guess not. I wouldn't waste my time, ignoring is the best way to deal with this crap.

He said he relies on his mum for medical advice so there is your answer :D

He looks good value for a chuckle though.

I'm sorry to cause offence but that's how I feel about it now, I've had enough of obeying the rules and just getting on with life. Here in Scotland it's still a bit higgle di Piggledi with the rules.
You don't have to wear a mask in the pub but if you walk into the bank the woman on the door tells you to wear one or as she said to me she'll slap my bum for me...hard choice.

You sound quite young, so if that's true it doesn't pose much of a direct threat to you, but if you care about others, if you end up with symptoms and brush them off as just a cold, without having tested to see for certain, and then go about your life as normal, the person you pass it on to might not be young and could be someone who isn't so fortunate and could end up with serious consequences if they catch it off you.

it's just another virtue to signal to people isn't it?
I've always been cautious in life even with a cold. I remember saying to a woman in work while being told my hair is getting long that I couldn't go to the barbers due to having it, she looked at me as if i was daft....
I replied that it's not fair on the girl who's going to get it from me is it, then she's either off work or passing it on to others.
but it get to a breaking point where we have to say no more or be like China for the last 20 years always having a mask on?

I suppose we all have different breaking points. For me personally, wearing a mask while out is really not an issue, and neither is taking a test, they aren't difficult or time consuming. Neither is isolating if I do test positive so as not to pass it on to others. I isolated before all this if I ever had a cold/flu although, I haven't had flu for a long long while since having the yearly jab.

The flu jab doesn't stop you getting influenza it just makes it less severe...like the Rona jabs....as has been said lol
Cold and flu doesn't seem to be a thing these days as the mask and distancing does work but is this going to be the way of life for everyone now?
" oh people didn't even have the cold and flu during the epidemic so we'll just keep everyone doing the same now? "
or as the tin foil hat mob say " why cure the cold and flu when there is so much money to be made for medications? "

That's incredibly selfish, and potentially lethal to the people you cross paths with. It's sadly not surprising though as the vast majority of idiots out there all feel the same way. But, despite it being painfully obvious to those of us who take responsibility for our actions, let me spell it out for you.

When, not if someone around you gets infected with this. And, they get very seriously ill or are even killed by it. It is YOUR FAULT! Either directly or indirectly. As others have said, you might be fine but the people you pass it on to might not be. So do us all, and yourself a favour. Grow a pair of balls, man the hell up and take responsibility. Wear a damn mask!

Ohhh no I have to wear a mask in the bank for the what 5-15 mins I'm there. Such an inconvenience.

I've had enough of obeying the rules and just getting on with life. Uh-huh so its all about ME ME ME!!!

With the transmissibility of Omicron making it one of the most infectious agents known to man, and the fact it can reinfect quite rapidly, we're in for a future of chronic illness as things stand. It cannot be compared to colds/flu in the slightest.

Also, based on the Israeli 4th jab data, I guess I won't be saying no to an additional booster. Antibody protection may wane quickly, but the serious outcome protection still stayed strong and elevated. Likely has good outcomes for incidence rates of long covid too, I'd imagine. Means b/t-cell protection isn't diminishing.

Why don't you wear a mask instead of telling others to do so. I'm not talking about these paper masks either. You can get those industrial grade ones like we have at our work. Sure they are a bit heavier on the face and look ridiculous but it will give you the protection you so crave.

Yeah make sure it’s an actual filter mask. Even health professionals up here are openly admitting face coverings don’t do anything other than remind people there’s a pandemic on.

I assume you're not just talking about the masks you see day to day? As if you are, they may as well be a fashion accessory as they do next to nothing in terms of prevention to others or yourself

EDIT - Didn't mean to seem like an echo after the two posts above :D

Working in London this week and mask wearing on public transport and in the office, I would guess was 25% of people wearing.

Agree that masks don't do a lot. I understood that you contract through pores, touch, eyes etc.

When I wear a mask I’m much more conscious of what my hands do, it acts as a reminder not to touch things and then rub my face

Also shows that when things become optional in the UK no one does it. Imagine if speed limits were optional, would be total carnage as the UK public are dumb and only do the right then when rules are enforced

I'm hoping medical science gets a move on and finds better medicines, eventually happened with aids although I'm a bit old to wait too long.
