*** Big Fat Weight Loss Thread ***

Haha yeah I have grey hair, but being bald it only ever shows if I'm being lazy and haven't had a shave in a few days..

consistently weighing under 13stone this week (I like to hit a few days on the bounce to account for water fluctuations).

Will keep at it until I'm under 12 then revisit caloric / carb intake to see if I can raise them both slightly to allow a bit more freedom.

Can't come off keto for at least a year as I'm the support guy for my partner, who has a lot more to lose than I.

How are you finding it? I'm not really missing the crap, processed rubbish but I really would love to eat a banana smothered in peanut butter after my jogging sessions. Oh boy.

Most days I'm fine, others all I seem to want is pizza haha (and on those days I make a chaffle / chicken pizza base).

Thankfully I'm a savoury, rather than sweet guy. OH is the opposite so we do spend a lot on Pulsin / KetoKeto bars so she can have one a day to stop her hating everything. Over time her desire to pick on them is going down, along with the need for diet sodas.

I've treat myself to a nicer bbq / smoker to ensure I'm going to continue to enjoy meat & fish over the hot summer days :D.

I might be doing the same from Sunday as my wife wants to start up Keto weight loss again for a while and I enjoy the foods we've had when doing it before so going to be a support mechanism.

We both know it's not any kind of magic bullet and all weight loss is ultimately calories in vs out, regardless what others in this thread have posted. My wife likes it as it naturally leans towards foods she eats more of, whereas I find the satiety really suppresses my urge to snack massively.

I'm also out of action for any real exercise at the moment due to a back issue i'm seeing a private osteo for, in conjunction with covid wiping me out for March and breathlessness post covid during April from minor extertion, my body is suffering and scale is going up.

I think it helps if you like the foods on Keto!

Good luck with it, hopefully you'll get some of the anti-inflammatory benefits you hear about doing the diet :)

The suppressed appetite from eating high fat really helps us to keep our calories low and some days we have to force them in!

I've done it twice at a serious level before and got on well, I just missed carbs too much to do it for life :D

I am hoping that it might passively help with my back issues as my osteo has pointed out she firmly believes it's muscular in nature so maybe the anti-inflammatory benefits may help.

Well pleased with keto so far. Down 3.2kg in 10 days. Of course, mostly water but it encourages me to keep going. Really makes a difference to cravings - I barely get any now that my blood sugar is pretty stable all day. Still debating whether to keep on with the Huel for dinner though or swap it out for salads/soups.

EDIT: And I just discovered a great keto snack - a packet of olives! Only 3g carb in 100g which is great.

Got a bit scary yesterday. For some reason, keto seems to be making my heart beat about 20 beats higher than normal when doing any activity. Resting is the same as usual. But just going for a walk, I'd be around 90 normally but it was in the 110s and by the time I'd finished 130. But I think I scared myself as it was going so high just walking that I made it worse with anxiety. :p I wonder when it will start to settle down and become more tuned to efficient fat burning. I read that it takes around a month and I'm only two weeks in.

Could it be your electrolyte levels out of whack due to the dumping of water at the start, are you supplementing Potassium, Magnesium and Sodium?

No supplements, just trying to get it through my diet - with extra spinach and avocado daily. There's some in the Huel as well.

If you're confident you're getting the levels via food, that's ok - personally though i'd still be tempted to take some low dose electrolytes while you're in the initial keto adjustment phase due to speed in which the body dumps water. Worst case, you pee it back out :D

After a 6 week maintenance phase today I begin my next cut phase, hopefully this doesnt take as long as phase 1 and gets me to my goal weight! I have 6-10 weeks planned for this part, lets see how we go!

Good luck!

I've set myself a 90-day timer from today. I have 90 days worth of multivits and 90 days worth of potassium tablets. So after that point, whatever happens, I'm quitting keto and going back to eating "normally".

I've got a keto reprieve - missus has a health issue that means keto isn't the best choice for her at this time, therefore no support needed from myself - can't say i'm disappointed really :D

Think I've finally confirmed running isn't for me, not that I ever had a love for it. My legs just don't play well after I've used the treadmill and having the same twinges and feelings as last time (one leg temporarily stopped working, varicose veins, weird pains/twinges probably compounded by my hypermobility).

Fortunately cycling is fine with them and squash - which I find weird as I would have thought this is more high impact but I only play very sparingly. Also enjoying being back at the gym and mixing it up with cycling and VR. Getting under 90kg is the goal, I have yet to do it across all these years but feel better about this attempt.
