Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake coming from Remedy & Rockstar

Remakes do nothing for me and I rarely buy.
Are Devs bereft of original ideas for games nowadays or is it all about makng quick money?

Think I will give 3 another go not sure I particularly liked it first time around but apart from the new content for The Division 2 I am struggling to find anythng to keep me amusedamused.

How are people having issues running the old games? There's plenty of easy guides to follow, no idea how some of you struggle.

Thanks for these links - I followed a few guides elsewhere which didn't help.

I'll buy again and have another go!

Imagine how good they would be if it were just the originals in full RTX similar to Quake II RTX
I tried Quake RTX and was... underwhelmed. RTX is great and all but it needs to be implemented with modern textures and assets/technologies in support. It just looks like polished turd when redone in old games with nothing else upgraded, case in point, Quake 2 RTX.

Max Payne was a benchmark for its time, but that time is long gone and it looks pants compared to what we are spoiled with today. A full overhaul is needed like what is being done with Dead Space.

Because they're old games lol. Even after the 2022 fixpack, i still had to try two different sound fixes to get audio working in the cut scenes and i still had to edit the registry to get 21:9 working correctly. That's just how it is with some systems.

This is tracking for release sometime next year apparently. Will be a purchase for me - really like the styling of the originals and other than a update of textures / shaders I dont think there’s too much more needed to make them a hit.

Max Payne 1 was by far my favourite in the series. I loved the atmosphere, bullet time mechanics and story. I would be interested if this turns out to be a high effort remake with modern graphics for a decent price.

Max Payne is linked to one of my absolute most cherished memories from my teenage years so it will always be special to me.

I'm quietly looking forward to these remakes. I just hope they do it justice.

Fed up of all the remakes tbh, just goes to show the industry is pretty stale, would much rather new games with new ideas etc myself...... meh
Me too but it seems to be way of the world now. At least MP1/2 are over 20 years old, which makes it less of a **** take than when they remaster games after like 10 years (Crysis 2/3, COD MW2 etc). TBH not many games from the past 15 years need remaking because tech was already pretty good by then, the advances in graphics/game design haven't moved that far forward during that period, compared to say games from the 90s or early 00s. I personally don't play remasters if I completed the original (also super rare I replay games), because I have a big backlog of games to play for the first time. To be fair, I do remember replaying Max Payne for a bit because it was such a great game, but I lost interest on the second level I think on the replay.

The only good thing about remakes is it means some games I can talk to my son about where I have a good idea from playing them back in the day.
Oh, and I guess it does make some classic games I skipped at the time more accessible - I'd like to try Baldur's Gate sometime for example so good it has an enhanced edition.

I love these games, I think a huge part of the charm is the pulpy noir presentation.

Even though Remedy likely went that direction out of technical limitations, I hope the remakes stay true to it despite advances in real-time cutscenes.

Great memories of these but I do hope they update the controls and a few mechanics. Whilst nostalgia is great certain things are just better now. If these are integrated these could be a great time.

Max Payne 1 was at the time ground breaking. The bullet times mechanics were really fun. I wonder how much of a remake or remaster this will be.

Probably nothing like as ground breaking as when it was released. Golden era PC gaming will almost certainly never be beaten.
Unreal RTX mod is pretty disappointing. Very in comparison to the realed of Unreal which at the time was mind blowing.

I've got a feeling this remake will be very special.

Control, which is now five years old, showed that Remedy has the lighting, materials, physics and destruction tech needed to make Max Payne really sing. Less exciting to me but highly relevant is mixed-media/FMV integration shown in Alan Wake 2. I can't wait.
