Its hardly toxic, we all know Perez (or anyone else in that RBR) is "No 2" doesn't matter what is in anyone's contract, etc.
I fully expect Ferrari to be doing the same with Sainz shortly and its exactly what Merc did with Bottas

Perez would have known he was no2 from before he put ink on his contract!

He's the perfect team mate for Max, has spent his whole career driving **** to mediocre cars and is just happy to have decent machinery and get tossed the odd crumb from the table. Won't rock the boat cos he knows he'll never get another decent drive.

And I disagree with the other teams doing it so early into a season, I have no problem with team orders late into a season to ensure a team wins a place in the championship or a driver wins a championship, but this early into a season, nope.
