Today's mass shooting in the US

The NRA spent about 50x less money lobbying than the Pharmaceutical industry and wayyy less then Technology companies, they have relatively small amounts of money. I'm sure you did your research on that though before you posted more misinformation.
This is true, of course, but it’s also no lie that Republicans and their voter base are usually pro second amendment and Republican politicians know perfectly well that a call for gun control in any way is an instant death knell on their political careers. If they want to stay on the gravy train they will oppose any and all measures.

Edit to add, https://elections.bradyunited.org/take-action/nra-donations-116th-congress-senators millions of dollars in some situations. Politicians are always unlikely to turn off that money tap.

You're pointing out that Politicians represent the views of their voters? Isn't that the point of democracy? Around half of gun deaths are suicides, which is tragic but doesn't represent what you want it to

It's a totemic issue for large parts of the Republican voting electorate. Anti-gun lobbies need to stop shouting about new legislation and work on moving the Overton window of those voters first. It needs to be grass roots not astro turf. I bet there are lot of Republican voting Moms who are deeply unhappy they need to be harnessed into selecting candidates at Primaries who are softer on guns. A large part of the base needs to move or it just remains another them and us part of the culture war.

And once again I give praise that I live in pragmatic old Blighty than slowly fudges it's way through without too much drama.

Is that the view of their voters or the view of their billionaire appeasing news media?

People aren't born with a gun in their hand.

That's irrelevant, unless your point is to show that the NRA can get what it wants far more cheaply than most other lobby groups.

How many times does it have to be repeated to those with "thick skulls" that the majority of discussion on here and in America, is talking about increasing gun ownership controls, not banning them entirely, something the majority of Americans themselves agree with. It's only the minority in America that don't want any further restrictions.

And that's the problem, the long arms think that control means ban, and go on about the second amendment, yet that actual amendment reads

"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

REGULATED..

Plus, how many people with guns, know someone that they think shouldn't be allowed to have guns, that's exactly how the rest of us feel...

Everything Fox News suggested as solutions to the problem. Notice the lack of anything to do with gun control.

48 is what happens when all the other ideas fail.

Armed police? That waited outside and actively prevented parents from entering the school to save their own kids? Some were aggressively pinned to the ground to stop them going in while gunshots were still going on?

The police always control entry to a crime scene, especially when a crime is in progress.

Having a distressed "Mr Jones" blazing away with a handgun within a school is unlikely to help.
