why am i being called a commie? because i think arming other
countries to fight for us is a very bad idea? very weird and i don't
understand. i think the opposite, arming Ukraine is a very bad
idea.

Go on then, who is us?

Why is arming Ukraine bad?
Maybe expand on why you have this silly notion and share with us, maybe sway us with whatever logic is in that crazy head of yours?

That's crazy that the equivalent of half the UK is occupied just by a force of 200 thousand

It's different though the UK is very compact and urban and Ukraine is very open so taking 1km in Britain is much harder than taking 1km in Ukraine which is why it's estimated that China would need 2 million soldiers to take a compact urban Taiwan and around 500k of them would die

Wow hellfires coming to the table!

There's a video going around on Ukrainian social media of a Ukrainian tank towing away an abandoned Russia tank.

Well some enterprising Russia propaganda agent saw the video and decided to re-upload the footage this time with the video played backwards under a title 'Russian tank tows away Ukrainian tank', good plan up until they forgot to remove the watermark of the video editor they used to doctor the footage.

May as well just not sanction them if you're not prepared to pay the cost to actually sanction them

Like with climate change, etc. lots of talk of doing the right thing, while doing anything but, but calling it something different. As if it will somehow solve or dodge the issue... it won't (or the people involved just don't care but can't be seen that way publicly).

Like with COVID a reluctance to take the moderate short term hit and innovate to offset the impact, to avoid a bigger impact in the longer run.

Sounds like a tactical move because Russia are obvioulsy still selling oil to India and other nations at a currently high price. So by driving the prices down they limit how much profit Russia can make.

The sanctions haven't worked so they need to change tactics?

It just seems crazy, like did they not plan for this ? What did they think was going to happen when they sanctioned one of the world's largest oil producers on its oil and gas ? Did they think Opec would just pick up the slack and not enjoy the profits for doing relatively nothing ?

Come again?
Or is it that you also can't out a good argument forward for the pro russian rubbish?
Yup
Nearly 2000 pages and cheer leaders still trying to stifle any comments that diverge from the one true message.
Evangelistic preachers are more suited to the vegan thread.
Read post one.

Populist responses fare poorly in the real world. Plenty of experts were pointing out what would happen. A medium term goal for Europe to stop using Russian gas makes sense, but straight forward sanctions against oil just push up prices. For as long as many of Russia's biggest customers won't join in on an oil ban, they'll just sell to those countries.
