What "man jobs" have you done today?

Re-did all the silicone in the bathroom. Even though I do it at least yearly, I'd forgotten just how annoying it is removing it, so many little bits to clean up.

I tried WD40 this time to remove the old stuff. Worked surprisingly well and didn't have any issues cleaning the surface afterwards. And the new stuff seems good so far.

Every year?!

I have mosaic tiles and find them a nightmare for water settling on top of the silicon. Water slowly pools at each groove at the bottom and eventually goes mouldy. Even if it's just a bead or two of water. The only way I've found to stop this is by drying the entire wall after every shower.

Out of interest, are you using quality silicone with sanitary properties/ anti mould?

And don't use saliva to wet fingers for any smoothing/cleaning up. I definitely found mine went mouldy immediately when I'd done that.

If you roll up some kitchen roll and soak bleach on the sealant (using the roll to keep it in place), the mould will be gone overnight.

Hadn't heard of that one before. Thanks, will give it a shot next time.
I do it as ours has a slight depression (tried uppers, made no difference  ), so it's an ongoing thing. Works wonders, but I really want rid of our bath and to go back to a proper shower cubicle so I've not fixed it properly. I did try adding sealant over the top but it didn't stick well.

Painted the fence for the first time in 10+ years.

Started with a Cuprinol hand pump sprayer with some Cuprinol sprayable paint my Dad had left me, came out like water and ran off the fence.

Decided to move to a paint brush but couldn't find anything bigger than an inch so went to B&Q for a 4 inch brush and came home with a Wagner spray gun and some Cuprinol ducksback paint instead.

I'm thinking of redooing ours. The cuprinol tin stuff was like water (no idea if all fence paints are), but we're thinking of doing it in some dark grey this time.

I haven't ever painted the fence. Once you start, it's a yearly chore otherwise it looks crap with peeling paint.

My fence is all pressure treated timbers and is now a nice silvery colour all round (4 years old). All I've done to it is add post toppers to prevent water ingress on the top open grain of the posts.

Sorry, missed your post. It's normally been Unibond bathroom stuff that says anti mould on it. Didn't seem to last too long though, although I probably did just use saliva last time. Used a wee bit of liquid soap this time which worked better as well.

Digging out down the fence to replace the grass with soil to plant a bunch of things ...

Where they moved the shed base to the back of the garden though they left the previous lot where it was in the middle against the fence, fun times.

Hidden concrete is my worst nightmare lol. Had to deal with it running the full length of my fence

Got the generator out from behind shed - checked voltage on 12v battery -fired it up and let it run for a bit - wiped it over and put it back to bed -
All ready for dooms day.

Who uses paint anyway it's a disaster on things like fences. Use a stain so it doesn't flake.
