To each his own and all that. Order some new taste buds.I hate both gin and tonic water, so would literally choose any other drink over them xD

I don't like bitter things, so the botanicals in gin and the quinine in tonic is super grim to me.To each his own and all that. Order some new taste buds.
water with ice and lemon? So the weather's getting warmer which means my regular drink of water doesn't quite cut it when sitting in the sun in the evening.
I'm not scared of aspartme or acesulfame-k, so would rather have a 0-calorie 250ml drink over a 37cal tonic water, enough calories in the alcohol. With low cal tonic water you have a choice of varieties, with Coke Zero you don't. If you want Coke Zero, you have... well, Coke Zero.
A good low cal tonic water would be something like Fever Tree which just contains carbonated spring water, fructose, citric acid and natural flavourings.
not arguing with you as it makes sense, but that cant be it as even Bass shandy has a small amount in it but that is not restricted. I suspect - but just a guess - is that even alcohol free beer is still considered a gateway to booze (but then so is bass shandy , however if that was released today i believe that would be restricted too , just like if alcohol was only just invented or tobacco just discovered there is no chance at all it would be legal.
what i find inexcusable is that alcohol free beer - and soft drinks such as coke - doubly so those out of a tap - cost as much as they do, after all its not like they are taxed like alcohol is.
The age restriction on alcohol free stuff is because it’s a sub category of alcohol in the grocery groups. The alcohol free are obvious - they're aimed at people who drive, or those that don't drink, but at least offers them something other than coke or lemonade. I've had some nice alcohol free beers before.
What perplexes me though is when you scan in your alcohol free beer and the till pops up with an age restricted item...not been able to find an answer on that. I can only assume it's so they don't want kids to "look" like they're drinking beer down the park.
so some google-fu states that if it is 0.5% or under it can theroetically be sold to kids, hence Top Deck Shandy (not seen for ages, dunno if still around) and Barr and Bass shandy are ok.
in theory the other alcohol free drinks should be too, but then i think it comes back to marketing and gateway drugs......... 0% beers are still marketed as beer where as bass shandy etc was marketed as pop
wow really? no wonder i liked it as a kidTop Deck was actually around 2% which is stronger than I thought it would was!
Pepsi Max is a far better choice than Coke Zero.
Im quite partial to a southern comfort and pepsi max
Marketing. Max/Zero were the way of getting men to drink the low kcal versions as Diet had always been aimed at women i.e. the "Diet Coke break" ads. With the rise of Pepsi Max/Coke Zero, i'm also unsure of the point of the "Diet" ranges.
I bought a bottle of Sprite the other day, for the first time in at least 20 years. The "full fat" version is a hybrid aspartame/sugar thing (i.e. diet for all intents and purposes), so you are right - not much point other than marketing. With the rise of Pepsi Max/Coke Zero, i'm also unsure of the point of the "Diet" ranges.
call me a heathan but............. i dont like full fat coke or pepsi.Max & Zero taste like stale versions of their superior originals just with the fizz intact, I can understand wanting to drink it for it being "healthier" (if you can ignore the other non sugar crap it contains) but to say it tastes like the original full sugar versions is a lie, unless you have incredibly poor taste

Never said they tasted like the sugar versions, I prefer them to the sugar version. Normal coke/pepsi leaves me with gross furry-feeling teeth.Max & Zero taste like stale versions of their superior originals just with the fizz intact, I can understand wanting to drink it for it being "healthier" (if you can ignore the other non sugar crap it contains) but to say it tastes like the original full sugar versions is a lie, unless you have incredibly poor taste
