COVID-19 (Coronavirus) discussion

How long before covid was that?

I can't remember that in 25 years.

Certainly not been the case for the 20 years I have lived in the UK, but then that has all been London.
That was sort of my point. Long waiting lists and GP times have always been there and has always been getting worse or more difficult.

I blame the governments not the NHS.

Before the pandemic, my GP practice used to have an open surgery. Queue outside for doors to open at 8am. I got there about 7:30am and was in the first three to queue. Listen to music and read my Kindle Paperwhite which killed the 30 mins.

If you got to queue up at 8a, there was at least 30 in front of you and no guarantee to see a specific GP as each had a number of slots.
It was this or book an appt in the afternoon for 3 weeks time.

Adding my "I've got covid post"

Symptoms came about on Wednesday, last few days been grim. Guess I probably caught it last weekend. Feel like I'm probably past the worst of it. Hoping to be right / testing negatige by Monday .. new week.

I've only felt normal again in the last few days after catching it on 31 May. I still tested positive 10 days later.

I feel better today.. Wednesday and Thursday were absolutely grim

Just running nose all day none stop including bad hayfever.. mild cough.. hoping over the worst of it tbfh

Last night had some wild night sweats like never before.

It’s weird how hot weather which seemed to massively drop numbers before doesn’t seem to be having same effect so far, see a increase in cases (even with crappy testing) and hospitalisations which will eventually lead to increased deaths.

I think the main reason China repeatedly lock down hard is they know it will just burn through population which in turn will breed new variants and then rinse and repeat. I’m not saying we need a lockdown but zero action makes no sense either.

Herd immunity is well and truly a red herring, it may lesson symptoms that’s all it seems

It is indeed weird to see such a significant uptick during a time when people are mostly outside. Covid ripped through my group last weekend, most of whom who have had it before. I can only assume a new variant or sub variant that is also more contagious.

I only have a barely runny nose left now, but I don’t ever want Covid again. Combined with my reaction to the jab in December and this all sucks really, but what can we do but carry on.

I can stay off work for 10 days, or 2 negative tests after 5 days if symptoms have gone. Will be interesting to see what happens when I test tomorrow.

New variants going around seems to disrupt any seasonal pattern - might be partly surges through people who might be resistant to one variant but more susceptible to another.

I've caught it (again I think). Tested positive on a LFT this morning after a night with a headache and mild cough. No loss of taste / smell though, no temperature (although I feel a little hot and cold every 10 mins), no sore throat, no aches. If it wasnt for the headache and the sort of "off" feeling I have I'm not sure I would have known. I'm hoping it doesnt get much worse to be honest, I'm tripple vaxed and fit these days but I do have ashma.

The headache and off feeling, are exatly the same as March / April 2020 when we are certain we first had it. I dont feel anywhere near as ill though, hopefully that will continue.

Feel much better today after testing positive on the Wednesday, nose has calmed down, cough comes in now and then. Taste and smell has totally gone hopefully not long term...

By Monday should be about done with it I reckon.

My partners daughter and and her family have just recently caught it, early thirties and triple jabbed and have had a real rough time of it for a week, been really quite ill.

Sill funny (strange) how it is infecting people so differently as her brother caught it last year sometime and hardly noticed and I'm sure my partner is one of the immune ones - has been exposed to it from infected people multiple times, including myself and we didn't separate, and has never caught it.
Yeah same here, our oldest (6) brought it home from school and was positive for 10 days but not ill and no one else in the house caught it. Then I've got it it now, 3 months later having not knowingly being around anyone with it.

Can I just add, the headache can just about **** ***!!!

Going to be catching it every few months at this rate.
Yup especially as having previously had it gives little to no protection against the new variants BA.4, BA.5 and B.2.1.2 something and everyone who had boosters six months ago any protection against symptomatic disease has gone by now as well. So basically you'd better get used to the idea.

Oh and the newer ones are returning to infecting lung tissue like the wuhan and delta strains did rather than the less serious upper respiratory omicron BA.2. So autumn and, winter ahead looks... interesting.

Along with the government seemingly not caring anymore it’s not a great picture. The newer variants also seem to be more and more contagious, it’s ripping through the population again at a time when a lot of people are outside, windows open etc

I’m curious to see how I bounce back in a few weeks and what the lasting impact is.

First I'm hearing of this. I thought BA.4 and BA.5 were supposed to be similar virulence as BA.1?
