Bernie Ecclestone left the GMB presenters gasp today in an interview about Piquet supporting Putin, saying Ukraine had all the chance in the world to give russia what they wanted.. Well Bernie's off the xmas lost of anyone who is anyone except Putin sympathisers.

Old news, near the start of this thread I said Mr. Ecclestone was on record saying President Putin should be in charge of the EU :)

Like me he is strongly Eurosceptic and feels the Ukraine situation could have been avoided or mitigated if Russia's genuine concerns about their neighbours ambitions had been addressed correctly.

Insensitive comments about the black power supporting F1 driver aside, Nelson was probably the finest balance of technically astute versus rapid pedalling driver F1 has ever seen, it'll take more than a politically incorrect description of Hamilton to sway my admiration of him ;)

He's just from an older generation like myself, who has not been cowed into hiding his real opinions, or into how to phrase them so as to make his words all but punchless.

If you think Nelson is bad don't have a few beers with Emerson Fittipaldi.... ;)

What are you talking about - care to explain?

If major food supplies are effected globally by Russia holding all Black sea ports how on earth do you get the Wheat out safely ?

One solution is to buy more wheat from Russia. The alternative is probably to watch Russia selling it to countries which then become tacit supporters.

Another is negotiating a settlement between Ukraine and Russia that allows mine clearance and use of black sea ports. That one needs time and diplomacy.

I suppose a no-fly zone and thetefore full scale Russia/NATO war is another option, but not one I'd choose.

IMO Putin knows a tipping point is coming but is hedging - last few days seems to have been trying to rally cooperation both domestic and abroad, then a very vague statement which for the first time hints at opening the possibility of possibilities.

To take western Ukraine would take massive mobilisation and committing to war - no more "special operation" and that seems to be dawning on Putin - but I certainly wouldn't bet on him stopping here.

Yes, I think we're seeing a final push before negotiations.

Russia must be reaching a point where they know further large scale gains are unlikely.

What a coincidence , most westerners supporting Putin have right wing views or are closet racists.
