I'm sure that the piece of artillery they used was a one off prototype/early production model? that they managed to get away from the advancing russians early in the war.

It doesn't seem like they have many at least, who knows whether they've managed to produce more now? They seemed to get the Neptunes working in the end I think that artillery piece was only completed relatively recently too.

I guess this means filling out the paperwork to declare war rather actually change the law so that a special operation can be the same as war because at the point there is zero difference and it won't be fooling anyone not even Russians

Someone know any more about this ? What huge pressure from Brussels ? My understanding is that the Baltics are just applying the sanctions regime the 27 EU states agreed on.
The EU (read Germany etc..) are trying to change that to allow an exemption for goods transitting from Russia to Kaliningrad and Lithuania, Poland etc.. are objecting/vetoing that.

Cheers Dowie and LOL ... do the Germans not remember the Berlin airlift when the Russians allowed nothing through, not even water ? Russia can still get anything they want in via sea - its not like Kaliningrad is landlocked ffs. The Balts are just checking for sanctioned items and letting other stuff through. Its barely much more than a customs check.

Apparently LNR/DNR have been told to conscript everyone who can hold a gun by July 10th - looks like Russia is gonna have at least one more crack at this before any changes might happen.
EDIT: The sources for that are a bit dubious though actually - trying to trace back the origins of the story now and it is bouncing around a few accounts that don't have the best reputation.

Looks like they've spotted something worth checking out - FORTE10 diverted from its home return to run some laps alongside Moldova.
The aircraft just east of it is a P-8 maritime patrol aircraft - been there a lot the last few days but seems to have been positioned last few hours to cover Snake island.
Been quite a lot of US Army Blackhawk helicopters flying around Romania nearby so possible just diverted for training purposes or something.
EDIT: From the altitude graph I'm guessing the area of interest is towards Kherson.

On these last day of the NATO summit, Biden just announced the largest military package yet for Ukraine
Ukraine will receive:
* 600 Main battle tanks
* 500 long range artillery systems
* 600,000 artillery shells
* 140,000 anti tank ammunition
* Long range guided rocket systems and ammunition, anti ship missile systems and ammunition and also anti air systems and ammunition

Maybe an attempt to influence Russian government thinking - 600 main battle tanks is going to take some time to deliver on and I dunno what they would be unless the US plans to pull some of the older Abrams that are sitting in their 100s parked up.
That seems very sus/dubious tbh.. give what they've been willing to supply before.
Looks like it's not a US delivery alone even though it was announced by Biden and not Stoltenberg. This is a NATO coalition delivery; many countries and even some outside NATO will be assisting to service this list

I've not too long come from a trip to Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. It was interesting to see first hand some of the side-effects the war has had in the Baltics. In Latvia they seem to be finally standing up for themselves on Russian issues and there was a big protest to take down a contentious war memorial in Rīga, something that would never have happened a few years ago.
I think in a sense they are glad that the rest of the world is seeing some of the **** they've had to endure for decades. Years ago I visited the former KGB building in Rīga, where many Latvians were taken and never to be seen again. They even had some of the spent bullet casing left in a room where people were shot.
The receptionist at the hotel where I stayed was a Ukrainian refugee. There are quite a few working in Rīga now.
On the 4 hour coach journey from Latvia to Lithuania I just happened to be sitting next to a Belorussian guy and we had an interesting chat as I was 'forced' to share his bottle of whisky for most of the journey. He was basically ****** off that the war was happening. As he stated it in Russian, "it's an unnecessary civil war among brothers".
