In this thread so far we've had people want to torture and murder POW's, calling for the extermination of Russia and everyone in it and for the bombing of Serbia just to "send a message" - so I think I'm very justified in asking for a clarification when someone's posts "hurt the people enough and they will turn"

You are in the wrong place if you are looking for balanced viewpoints and reasonable opinion. As well meaning as it is, I feel you are wasting your time. This is GD afterall. :rolleyes:

I just tend to stay out of the conversation when things get weird, I'm pretty confident if it ever came to action, these people would never have the conviction to carry out these actions themselves and would likely be horrified and straight into another thread to complain about the injustice of senseless killing of innocent people...
I just see it as bluster and over emotional ranting.

No, there'd be multiple threads on what are the criteria for getting out of military service, what do bone spurs look like, and can I become a conscientious objector by e-mail? ;)

Then there would be those claiming "I'd happily go and fight, but not for this government, or the Queen", (or whoever else they could palm the blame for cowardice off on).

We seem to have a forum with plenty of blood thirsty madmen, honed on computer simulations of war, and expert in all aspects of modern warfare and weaponry, spending their days with a constant finger on the Ukrainian pulse. I'm surprised they haven't already signed up of their own volition ;)

Only way it goes well if russians make it happen themselves. They need to clear out Putin and all his idiots and get a proper sensible government legitimately elected. If that doesn't happen someone will just take over from Putin and the crap will continue

So puppet governments are suddenly all the rage, acceptable and to be applauded? It was all but yesterday the forum were condemning those who tried, or did install puppet governments in other countries. Wrong type of puppet government no doubt :)

Deporting dual citizens or restricting their entry to the country would be against the constitution of Germany. For reasons that we may recall Germany is very touchy about restrictions on German citizens. Australia shouldn't be a model for anyone.

Frankly, these people have the right to protest, and as much as I dislike them and their cause they retain their right of free expression - and should. Repression of freedom of expression is not the right response. Even banning the Z-symbol as the symbol of fascism it is would be probably be difficult given the number of different things that a Z already represents - how do you legislate against the fascist Z without also proscribing the Z on the back of Z series laptops, or the Mark of Zorro?
