I actually think that they WANT to enable themselves to fully mobilize, and that's what a lot of the sabre rattling has been about.
There isn’t anything stopping them doing that now in Ukraine. It’s not like NATO are going to directly intervene.

Bad news for Russia with Armenia now being targeted properly - was an eventuality but this shows just how weak the bear has become.

Mobilisation would be the sensible option, nukes would be the desperate "i'm finished so yolo" option

Just because they've suspended sending reinforcements it could mean many things, they could be discussing options on how to fix the mess they've got themselves into and whether mobilisation is even an option, a lot of rumours going around at the moment, a lot of it is probably propaganda for the Russians to fall for as rumours spread easily, war is far from over yet, just like it wasn't over when Russia decided to give up on Kyiv & Kharkiv cities

I can't see Putin stopping the war because that would mean giving up Luhansk, Donetsk and Crimea[...]

I think the suspension of reinforcements is likely for one reason, the reinforcements don't want to go - they're going to have a serious morale problem right now, and plenty of infighting, people for and against etc.. ergo my comment that Putin might not have any choice here.

Russian vehicle apparently pulling a u-turn sums this up:

Internal troops (Chechens) being sent to look for deserters while it's clear that lots of Russian troops around Kherson are trying to surrender:

This thread is interesting re: internal risks too:

Also:

Also more on the possible infighting and attempts at surrendering in and around Kherson:

Seems like Kherson could collapse for the Russians in the next day or two even... and if they're unable to send fresh troops because of refusals from the already bad news this is only going to cause further issues. Remember too the Russian regular military are contract soldiers who can resign when they want to + conscripts can't be forced to fight unless war is officially declared.

Would mobilisation even help - they can't logistically support the soldiers thay already have, adding to the numbers just makes the problem worse. Could they arm and equip whoever they call up, scraping the barrel now.

There are some units they have already armed and equipped but that they can't seemingly deploy as per the above but yeah that is another issue too, certainly as far as armour is concerned, of course, they can equip light infantry but without proper training and without the usual artillery support they're not going to be much use.

Could you start a thread for that potential conflict please? (Armenia)

------------

I do wonder if Kherson will fall though. It's been built up with defenses for quite some time. Obviously I am hoping yes though.

It sounds like it basically has already, both sides of the river looking to surrender even and some nasty infighting with the Chechens/internal troops.

Some tweets seem to be suggesting there's a chance of it being "game over" soon... no more units to be sent, Putin scrapped a meeting with generals recently.

Following on from the above, now the reports are that he not only scrapped the meeting with Generals but he's left Moscow and is in his mansion in Sochi:

It's almost like they were given an acting brief to roleplay re-writing current affairs and say that Russia was winning with a straight face.

Wonder how much Russia is paying these guys?

It's baffling how they get air time....

Funny how all the free thinkers etc won't believe a word of any western government ,but China, Russia and Iran etc are 100% reliable and trustworthy..

Social media full of comments on the Armenia conflict along the lines of "Russia will be deploying their airmobile brigades any time... oh wait".
