It seems that the only way that Ukraine can continue is they have to just ignore the Russian threats and keep pushing. It also raises the nuclear spectre yet again for Ukraine. One of the few cards putin has left to play.
See the Russians are planning referendums in the occupied Luhansk and Donetsk regions so the new republics can be formerly made part of Russia. So soon after finding their independence, gosh that was fast.
All geared toward yet more, 'you're attack Russia proper now, stop or we'll do something about it!'
The gall of them is pretty astonishing tbh.
I heard those elections were cancelled after the successful counteroffensive?
but there is at least a pretense of legality in Russia
Something that the Russians seem to be pretty adept at.a big part of their negotiation strategy thrown right of the window.
True. Although I do worry about what Russia will resort to to prevent further territorial loss.It seems that the only way that Ukraine can continue is they have to just ignore the Russian threats and keep pushing.
Well, at least they didn't include the UK in that![]()
The Turkish leader indicated things were "quite problematic" for Russia.
Mr Erdogan said he held "very extensive discussions" with Mr Putin at a summit in Uzbekistan last week.
In an interview with US broadcaster PBS, the Turkish leader said he gained the impression that the Russian president wanted a speedy end to the war.
"He is actually showing me that he's willing to end this as soon as possible," Mr Erdogan said. "That was my impression, because the way things are going right now are quite problematic."
any ground ukraine gives to Russia will only mean they'll be back from more later. I agree with Zelensky, out or we continue.. this will drag out for a long time. To be real, Russia is not going to back down, the only way they'll get out is if they're pushed out.Erdogan will do what he will always do, try and profit from both sides of the fighting.
The only way the fighting ends is with the withdrawal of Russia from Ukraine, which Zelensky has made clear, I don't blame him, any ceasefire just gives Russia time to re-focus and spend more time training etc.
