But top tier training of their troops and intelligence does certainly help. We were also one of the early countries to show support and rally others behind them.

Very true, which I also acknowledged in a later post.
However... as I also mentioned, training counts for naught if you're down to sticks and stones because you don't have the munitions and hardware required to make use of all that top tier training.
Also, as far as intelligence goes. Just how much do you think we're actually contributing to that? How many military spy satellites does the UK have?
I have absolutely no doubt that 99% of all the allied intel they are getting, is coming from the US and their equipment, drones and satellites.
And as for being one of the early countries to show support... Well let's be honest now, it was a very favorable way for our then Lie Minister to deflect attention away from his many ongoing scandals.

They aren't down to sticks and stones. They are being supplied with very capable hardware, regardless of which country supplies it. So the training counts for a lot.
Yes the US will be supplying most of the intel. But it doesn't only come from satellites.
I don't think the difference between replacing the leadership of Ukraine with a Russian-friendly one and annexing an entire country is mere quibbling.

I totally agree with you, I think the issue is that we (the UK Govt) seem to be far too willing to try and paint themselves as the "biggest and best" contributor to the war, it doesn't help the rhetoric.
You (uk) might be the biggest and best contributor in europe. Thats my impression.

It's clear from the way that Ukrainian sources talk about the UK that the support we have given is considered very valuable to them. Of course the UK is not the biggest player here, but don't underplay it either. The UK is third largest provider of aid to Ukraine (after the US and the EU) and the second largest provider of military aid (after the US) - although half a dozen countries, particular in Eastern Europe, are giving more as a percentage of GDP.
The UK was also particularly important in providing aid for Ukraine in the period 2014-22, and in pushing other partners to also support Ukraine.
Yes exactly! This is I guess the point I have been trying to make. The UK Govt (and seemingly a lot of the UK population) seem to think we're being "those plucky brits" again, standing resolute and proud.
The reality is the vast majority of the resources and equipment that is needed for this conflict and even the intelligence being provided is coming from the US.
Had the situation played out differently and the US decided it was "not their job to police the world", No amount of support, training or "commitment" from the UK would have made the slightest bit of difference.
Brit's really need to take off those Rose-Tinted Union-Jack glasses and realize that while we are undoubtedly helping support them and provide training to their troops, We are not the ones turning the tide of this invasion, not even close.

We've provided a lot of support to Ukraine, and crucially were sending equipment and kit over before the Russian invasion not after.
US is the power house, but given our economy size differences, we are doing a pretty good job of providing assistance, not to mention we're helping to properly train the Ukrainian troops on rotation.
UK gets a bit of stick around the global politics but I'm happy with the level of support we've provided, and continue to provide.

Sat surveillance will almost certainly be sourced from US assets, but don’t be surprised if there are mixed NATO ELINT airframes operating close by as well as various European nation’s security services monitoring and analysing all Russia comms traffic.
