I'm not sure how this would work, Would they just drop nuclear tactical bombs in their own people currently holding onto what they have in territory?..Would they have to move them out then bomb?

Guess in his mind it would be justification to use such weapons on attackers, i.e. Ukranians in Ukraine.

Whole thing is bonkers of course but then again the war started as him sending troops as "peacekeepers" into those regions. Hasty manner in which all of this is done is an indication that he's really rattled by latest counter attack and must be feeling a lot of pressure at home.

Suppose now that whole thing has gone wrong for him, plan is to declare those regions Russian territory. Politically he can then say he got back what is allegedly historically Russian territory to try and save face with the public. From military point of view this allows him to go on the defensive with no further large attacks into Ukraine planned and hide behind nuclear weapons, should further counter attacks by Ukraine be planned.

He's now doing his best to try to build a narrative in Russia that they are in danger from NATO hence mobilisation and concentrate his resources at home to prevent any kind of revolution from happening.

Yea, I dont see how he can use any tactical nukes really, without bigger issues for him after using them.
Its all getting rather bizarre to me now as I have no clue what the objective is for Putin anymore, Ukraine have found their feet, getting more and more supplies and will surly go to get Crimea etc back as well now.

I think it's clear that he's sending troops to Ukraine to save people by killing them, and it's NATO's fault of course!

Where are you seeing this?

It's happening in the Russian Far East (the average wealthy Muscovite doesn't give a s*** about the people there):

...A local university student in Buryatia’s capital Ulan-Ude told the media outlet Village that police officers showed up at this university in the morning and were “taken students straight out of classes.”

Buryatia’s government confirmed reports that at least 11 schools in Ulan-Ude were shut down on Thursday to be used as mobilisation points, and school buses will now be used to ship conscripts... Source

Also:

...Novaya Gazeta, an independent Russian newspaper-in-exile, on Thursday quoted an unnamed Kremlin source saying that the target number of one million men is written in Point 7 of Mr Putin’s mobilisation order - a part that was redacted from publication.

The unnamed Kremlin officials said the number had been revised several times and that the Russian military insisted on it being classified.

When asked about the redacted figure, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that it contains the mobilisation target but cited Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu statement on Wednesday that Moscow was only going to call up 300,000 people... Source

"ONLY" 300k. LOL. What the Ukrainians need now are thousands of AI auto-turrets to fight back the Zerg. When positions are overrun, or a timer ends... they self-destruct (to avoid being captured for enemy usage).

If the Russians don't at least train these conscripts for a few months they will be cannon fodder or if they are serving the protesters that were arrested the other day with mobilisation papers they will be surrendering to the Ukrainians on mass.

Kremlin denies Russian men fleeing to avoid fighting in war

The Kremlin has dismissed reports of an exodus of Russian men of fighting age following Vladimir Putin’s announcement of a partial mobilisation as “exaggerated”.

Flight sales data showed flights from Moscow to the capitals of Georgia, Turkey and Armenia, all destinations that allow Russians to enter without a visa, were sold out within minutes of Putin’s announcement on Wednesday.

In his regular briefing with reporters, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov also declined to deny Russian media reports that some anti-mobilisation protesters detained on Wednesday night had been given draft papers, saying:

This is not against the law.

Well, having exhausted plan A, which was thinking Ukraine would fall over like a domino when he launched into the East and tried to surround Kiev from Belarus and consequent plans failing over last 6 months, he's now onto plan Z (no pun intended). That is to consolidate whatever he managed to grab in Ukraine under the sham referendum.

Being on a massive backfoot now he's throwing around the only thing he can still be relevant with and that's nuclear weapons. Only other time he seriously used that line was at the beginning of the invasion. Even when he and lot of us (me included) thought his army was a seriously reformed modern expeditionary force, he still knew that even a NATO enforced no fly zone would put an end to his invasion fast. That was just his card to keep NATO off the ground and out of the air.

Having failed to establish air dominance since the start and suffered as much material and personnel loss as he has along with recent counter attack, he has to resort to nuclear talk again to discourage Ukraine and NATO/West which is a sign of weakness on his part more than anything.

As someone with personal roots in the region, whole thing has been incredibly sad to watch unfolding though. Here it's just headlines and to most people on the internet a West vs Russia game that's fun to watch as Putin has been failing everythinghe thought he would achieve.

Regardless of how this ends including a good scenario where Russian army goes back within its own borders, Ukraine will now be a damaged country for a few generations to come. Both from personal trauma to civilian and military populations, to destroyed infrastructure that will take decades to rebuild.

Not to mention the hate that will not be forgotten quickly this century in the whole region between the two (and potentially even Belarus), something that no one could fathom would exist even 10 years ago before Putin's crusade has started.

Ukraine will be invited into NATO.
