Not going to be much of a war then is it? will be over before you know it.

So on the basis where we let Russia have Ukraine or nukes start flying, I don't think even then we can, because it will never end.

"Oh, Ukraine was nice, Poland is looking pretty tasty right now. How about you give me Poland or I'll use nukes?".

You have to put a stop to the insanity somewhere, so far I still think actually using nukes is fairly low probability, because even Putin knows that is a step that may backfire on him.
 
Putin is full of **** , him and his thievin oligarchs have spent the money on palaces yachts and posing effemanitely on horses , his like Dowie he just talks ****.

And they did that by blowing up their own pipelines, and no-one else's- and not just one of their own pipelines, either.

All of this going into the time where they could have used their own pipelines as both a powerful negotiating lever, and the prospect of future earnings? Both of which are now not possible, due to them blowing up their own pipelines?

It doesn't work like that, he wants all the old territory back, so unless you are willing to give up several countries it can't be allowed to happen. I think the west are trying to stop him before he actually gets to a NATO country, or all hell will break loose.
We're in it to win it now.

Five reasons:

1) They don't need those pipelines any more. They would not have been supplying gas until the Ukraine war is resolved amicably and Putin's regime is gone (so years from now, if ever).

2) In the meantime, Gazprom (Russian state owned) had to pay penalty fees for not supplying gas to their customers in the EU as contracted through Nord Stream 1 unless they can use the "force majeure" clause in their contract (for example, because some unidentified third-party blew up their pipeline). That's why they made all those silly excuses about pumps etc needing maintenance when they cut down the gas flow previously.

3) The Kremlin are putting the blame for sabotaging the gas pipelines on to the USA, in a cynical attempt to drive a wedge between the USA and the EU.

4) Russia wants to send a message to the EU/UK that our undersea gas/electric/communications cables can be easily destroyed by them in a manner which would give them deniability.

5) Sabotaging the Norwegian gas pipeline would be an Act of War against a NATO member. Norway would invoke Article 5 and Russia might then find itself in a hot war with NATO. Putin doesn't want to up the ante that much, yet...

No way, we tried appeasement before and look where it got us. Putin is a thug, always has been and always will be he only understands the language of violence, intimidation and bullying. The moment we step back and let Putin have his way for Ukraine we will be giving the green light to every other tinpot dictator in the world that if there's any piece of land or territory they would like to help themselves to they should go ahead and grab it because the west isn't going to interfere or try to stop them.
 
I think begrudgingly he is realising that he won't get Ukraine. His tactic of claiming territory is already coming unstuck because Ukraine is not stopping and the West keeps supplying them. If Lyman falls then there is another hole.
Originally he wanted Ukraine, the whole of it but now he knows he won't get it. His ceremonies and speeches are to show that it has been a success but as in the song Locomotive breath by Jethro Tull, 'the train it won't slow down'. His epitaph will be failure.
