That’s desperate. Dubbing a Conservative Party political broadcast into Russian is a low trick. At least they cut out the bit about screwing the economy, after all they have to sell it!

Plus if the US wanted to, they could destroy any Russian satellite making a nuisance of itself with an SM-3, which can be fired from the US Navy’s Ticonderoga class cruisers or Arleigh Burke class destroyers (although I’m not sure if all the Arleigh Burkes can use SM-3). Russia doesn’t have anything comparable.

If I were a massive military with near infinite funding I'd probably have defenses on the satellite, probably some form of EW at the very least.

It shows they need to look at negotiating the end of the conflict. Russia is on the back foot now so prime opportunity. This is probably the off-ramp and give Putin the chance to save face.

Only works if Putin is playing by that logic and is looking for an off-ramp or feels he needs to save face...

Very true. Biden’s comments do also suggest that the US response to the weapons being used would be to start directly shooting at Russian targets. That’s really the only way this would suddenly escalate beyond Ukraine.

At this stage the US wants to prevent the use of any nukes and it sees the best way to do so is to tell Russia that it would face the full might of the US and NATO militaries and hope that the threat of the destruction of Russia's armies is enough to convince Putin not to nuke Ukraine.

Essentially Biden is telling Putin, if you are going to nuke Ukraine you better Nuke all of NATO first otherwise that Nuke you drop on Ukraine will be the last command you issue to your army because your army will no longer exist

Not out of inherent selfishness but rather just practicalities, if you had a shelter and supplies and had say immediate family members come and stay then how many more can you practically fit in there? You want to have at least 2 weeks' worth of water for each person, + food, the ability to go to the toilet etc.. If 50+ people on his road all want to be let in then yikes... also if they demand to be let in a little bit after the blast, potentially covered in fallout etc.. then very not good.

Ideally, you'd want other people nearby who also have shelters and supplies - mutual support is good, lots of freeloaders aren't good!
