The Liverpool Club Thread. **No Spoilers**

Why? Because you’re super Liverpool and every player wants to come to you
What has Liverpool got to do with Arsenal signing Bellingham? There's not a chance that Arsenal will sign him. It's hugely debatable whether Liverpool could afford him at the rate he's going, Arsenal certainly couldn't.

I can’t see the reason why people believe that Liverpool is the only premier league club he’ll go to.
You seem to be confusing us saying he's not joining Arsenal with us saying he'll only join Liverpool.

We have a chance, just like Chelsea and Man United do but we'll need to finish top 4 and for the likes of Real, PSG and City to not bid for him to stand a chance.

That's not been said. All I'm saying is he won't be going to Arsenal and of course he won't be going to Newcastle. He could go to City, he could go to Chelsea, it's unlikely given that they've confirmed that they spent next summers budget already but he could go to Utd but those 3 and Liverpool are the only possibilities in the PL.

So you’re basing it on budget?

Not just budget but simple affordability. The cost of signing him, both transfer fee and wages will be huge, there's only a handful of clubs with the revenues (or outside investment) required. Arsenal's revenue last season would have been circa £380m, this season it might be £420-430m, that's roughly £200m less than the likes of Liverpool and Utd. Arsenal (and Spurs) have funded their transfers in the last couple of seasons with debt, that cannot continue and will have to start being paid at some point, they're not realistically going to be able to fund a £100m+ transfer and pay the huge wages required to sign Bellingham.

You think FSG will pay over £100m for one player?

Yes. 5 years ago they spent £75m on VVD - £100m on somebody like Bellingham, when you factor in his age and football inflation is not as expensive as that.

Unlike most clubs, we don't really work to fixed budgets. Obviously we don't have a bottomless pit of money but when and how we spend has always been very flexible and we've shown that we'll pay huge fees on the right players. As above, we spent £75m on VVD and £65m on Alisson - at the time those fees were far more outlandish than £100m odd on Bellingham.

Fwiw, although I'm sure we really like Bellingham and would sign him if we could, I don't think we're as fixated on him as some people seem to think. The fact that we went for Tchouameni (who would have cost a huge amount too) this summer, who is a completely different profile of player makes me wonder whether somebody like Bellingham is our priority.
