I am now a true petrol head! Bought an Alfa !! (Giulia Quadrifoglio)

I swear the rear camera on mine isn't accurate. I can park perpendicular to the kerb of a space I'm backing into and the guidelines being parallel to the bay lines. Get out of the car and I'm at quite an angle in the space

Passed a gun metal grey one on the M25 earlier and thought of this post. I think it's lovely and I really hope it works out. I also liked the M3 too!

I owned a baby Alfa; Nothing like this animal, and it was temperamental but she always got me home, if she'd throw a wobbler it was normally on the drive!

Must admit I think its stunning and like your McLaren, a lovely colour.

Which colour is it? Etna red or Rosso Competizione?

The triple layer Competizione so is full of sparkle but only in sunlight, lovely colour, just finished machine polishing the front end and waxing it, time to rest now will do more tomorrow.

Mangoletsi in Knutsford?

As an Alfa dealer they'll have the experience, worth a phone call to ask if they have any servicing deals for older cars at least - I ended up with Holdcroft Volvo (A franchised delaer like Mangoletsi) doing the belts on my old V70 due to the fact they were actually cheaper than a few independents I'd got quotes from as they had a scheme for cheaper servicing on older cars. :)
Wouldn’t go there. Salesmen with all the old school salesman crap. Didn’t know the product and tried to push what we didn’t want.

We did buy from there as the price was the best, but the experience was very poor, we only intended on going once!

Spent the whole evening machine polishing the Alfa, took several hours.

Used an Autobrite DA polisher with their medium cutting compound Enrich which gives a high gloss. I did not bother with a final polish as the results speak for themselves as such I then gave a coat of Si02 wax to seal in the hard work and protect the car for Winter, for its next wash I will also spray the car with Magiseal to add a further layer of protection.

The cars paint has so much more depth now after the polishing, the light scratches and swirls are 90-100% reduced and the bigger scratches have been reduced by 60-80% making them not really noticeable any more, I also touched up the larger stone chips before commencing polishing. Also new number plate tabs and the whole car just looks so much fresher. :)

I bought the car knowing the brakes were low, the front disc and pads are actually pretty decent, plenty of life in those but the service history shows it had front disc fitted around 70k miles, I see no bills for rear disc as such I think the rear disc are the original disc supplied with the car maybe, not bad if so means they done 113k miles. So I am going to get new rear pads and look at getting the rear disc replaced if skimming is not an option.

Done a lovely job bringing the car up fresh, nice!

These are gorgeous cars from all angles except for one - the front. That signature Alfa front radiator, otherwise known as the merkin (be careful googling that), Betty Boop or Mitsubishi logo. I just can't see past it. Apologies if I've now passed on the infliction!

I am thoroughly enjoying driving this car, dry tonight and race mode on, the grip this car has on PS4S is tremendous especially considering it’s turbocharged but I guess the torque limiting in lower gears helps but with low ambient temperatures tonight the tyres were right on the limit in 2nd. Car is hugely quick with tremendous mid range. Does seem to certainly drive a bit smoother since I serviced it and feel a touch more potent, also Vpower could be helping unleash all the ponies if it was previous running 95.

It’s the front end that is such a surprise, has such quick steering and turns so quickly you don’t expect it to grip but it does.

It’s got the M5 beat for everything accept right at top end and noise as the M5 at full chat winding round was properly quick but more so pass three digits whereas the Alfa is massively quick to 100, but not exceeded that yet. Gearbox works a treat, not quite as sharp as same gearbox was on my SVR but it’s not annoyingly slow so Alfa did a good job but Jaguar did trump them slightly but AWD and instant supercharge torque no doubt plays a part too.

It’s hugely comfortable though, way more than expected and can certainly tell it was designed by same guy who did the 458, same quick steering, same tricks on gearbox and same bumpy road button. Really bonding with this car and cannot wait to push it harder in corners, and I like how on a motorway run it turns into a near 40mpg cruiser. All other times it’s 14-16mpg though! :D

The Giulia is criminally underrated and as an owner, I like that.

Gibbo - the wheels look untouched, do you know if they've been refurbished? There isn't an official paint code for the wheels from what I've read (probably because I believe the wheels are multi layered paint?). Interested in finding a close OEM colour for when mine need refurbishing.

I think they might have as the seller did comment it had new tyres and refurbed wheels and how he preferred the colour as it seemed a bit lighter and brighter than stock, cannot say what colour they are sorry but they look awesome.

You don't like the Alfa Scudetto? Philistine! ;)

Lovely looking car.

Bit more powerful than the couple of Alfasuds that I had back in the 80's.
Number one in brown (yes I know) invented the word "rust". Both inner wings welded up to get it through it's first MOT.
Number two invented the expression "torque steer". This would be the Alfasud 105 then!

Enjoy. I'm sure you will :)

Even the noise? :)

The M5 had a better engine tune and loved to rev never gonna touch an NA V10 for that.

But do I like the Alfa noise, yep absolutely infact sometimes it just makes me LOL on up shifts as it makes some absurd noises from gurgles, wet farts and explosions.

It’s just a far nicer car to drive, it’s softer, better steering feel and much better steering and the ZF8 is of course leagues ahead of SMG3. It’s not much better on fuel though when you’re having fun 14-16mpg VS 9-11pm g. M5 could achieve around 26mpg on a run, the Alfa can hit nearly 40.

I really like it, a stunning car to look at and it drives as good as it looks. I wish it had a few more options like the HK stereo and heated seats/wheel but I guess they could be retrofitted if I so desire, at 26k a case of take what you’re given. Runs like a dream though and has great performance.
