Yep, that was my comment on the ocuk video featuring @8pack. £799 is the correct price for the 4080. NVIDIA have back their self into a corner unfortunately. Out of touch still using monolithic dies, and using an expensive 4nm node.
That's still 200 notes too expensive, frankly.
50% uplift from gen to gen is not to be snift at didn't we previously get less uplift from gen to gen ? , wouldn't mind paying £700-£750 . After paying £650 for the 3080

I'm sure if Nvidia could have seen 2 years into the future they would have priced the 3090 at 3K and the 3080 @2.7k. Then people would have been cheering for a 1.2k+ 4080 and 1.6k 4090

To be honest, right now, I don't see that much of a difference. You could argue from my previous system for what I play and do, I did not really need to upgrade. But I can't help myself, lol. Would like a new GPU next, but waiting for the new AMD cards to hit to see what they offer.
As your sig is now changed I can't see what you have come from, with your recent board, RAM and CPU changes...?
At least it is shiny and new
