So he's already gone begging to the CEOs

But with these issues

Four industry figures told the Financial Times that in recent weeks agencies have not little communication with Twitter's ads business team because so few staff were left following mass layoffs.

Twitter's ad systems have become bug-ridden, according to some media buyers, making it nearly impossible to launch campaigns.

"It is quite unique. The turmoil, the damage, nothing of this magnitude has happened before. Never," a big four advertising agency executive told the FT.

And now looks like he's going with his threat to name and shame

If he's not trolling (50/50) he's only just found out one of the things that is extremely common knowledge with anyone who pays attention to tech*, or has ever looked at putting something on one of the app stores...

Next thing he'll be complaining that Visa/Mastercard put a "tax" on transactions.

Makes me wonder how much attention he actually pays to the businesses.


*I knew about it years ago, long before I had a smartphone, and I've never considered putting anything up on the app stores.

how is it that he doesn't know this stuff? are there users in this thread that don't know this? Genuine question. I fear many that have to defend elon wont want to answer to avoid making elon look stupid, because surely most if not everyone in this thread knows about "apple tax".

the fact that elon is calling out them, implying they are against free speech, is a guaranteed way to remove more advertisers. what a dummy.
 
Even if he is trolling, and at this point who knows, it's still not going to do what is needed to reassure advertisers that an adult is in charge of Twitter.

He either comes across as ignorant or a petulant manchild.

Musk still embarrassing himself I see... so desperate to appear like he's not made a mistake which totally destroy's his 'genius' imagery that he's trying to threaten well established businesses with violence.

It'll be an interesting show down between Apple who, I personally believe, are only as successful as they are due to the Cult of Apple versus the Cult of Musk.
 
Best thing he can do is simply get the platform sorted.

It's fairly obvious the stink around it from a lot of salty people and some genuine criticism (if the ad system is broken, that's inexcusable, so is getting content moderation correct) mean there is no reasonable expectation that it isn't going to have some short term pain at the very least, he needs to start delivering on the promises, show people how it's meant to work, and then go back after advertisers, and stop it becoming a long term pain.

Ultimately if people are literally peeing their pants at Trump being on the platform when he isn't even tweeting, then the business model needs to change, no one has to like Trump, but you have to allow both sides of any argument to civilly discuss things, if people want to tweet CT's (even Musk), then great, let them be shot down by the town square, I hugely enjoy seeing anyone getting called out and it's great watching them squirm, that is the best way of teaching people to be civil.

I don't know if it's possible to allow all political views to co-exist on the platform, does anyone know why Twitter was losing hundreds of $M's prior to musk taking over?

The whole 'let them be judged' is just a ridiculous argument. We've seen an entire country end up harming itself because a load of rubbish was allowed to be spread and enough people didn't judge it critically enough, just went with their feels.

You obviously don't think trumps content has met gone over the line yet, but where is the line for you?

Twitter decided an attempted coup was the line.

What if trump starts calling for the killing of Jews because they ruined America? Is that the line for you or will you still say trump should have been allowed to post freely on twitter, a private companies website.

What you've also ignored, is that for all your hopes and dreams of this utopia nonsense where people willnisut say things others disagree with (such as the sky is green and that's are far as it goes) and it should be allowed, is that there's a business issue with this.

People that have low iq can see the advertisers will rightly go and twitter will die.

I think you need to realise that your dreams don't aline with reality.

Yes the UK did and it was pretty much the one good thing Boris did but the UK doesn’t have the clout the US does. Without the US weight the pretty much unanimous condemnation of Russia and support of Ukraine wouldn’t have happened. So like it or not, and I know you don’t like it, Biden’s administration has been pivotal to Ukraine not just still existing but also kicking Russia’s ass. One president kissed Putin’s ass, the other enabled a friendly nation to kick his ass.

If there is any truth in that, I suspect it'll be because of the removal of most of the content moderation people, and the fact that whilst Musk may be quite happy to risk the legal issues that come with removing most of the content moderation, Apple probably isn't, and could potentially in some jurisdictions be named in any legal action that comes because of it, as the app store does have published standards and requirements for what they'll allow, and actively police them/what they allow on the store thus removing a lot of the platform protections you'd normally see.
Another reason might be something as simple as Twitter has outstanding bugs that Apple require them to fix within a certain time frame*, or Apple don't want to be associated with Musk's new "vision" for twitter/twitter is at risk of falling foul of Apple's requirements for being listed on the store.

This is as I say assuming there is any truth to what he's saying, and that he's not either making it up, or has heard it from Shapiro or one of the other right wing nuts he's taken a liking to.


*Or Apple are concerned that having dumped many of Twitters staff, including entire teams who specialised in certain API's required for Apple and Android apps, that Twitter won't work with updates/security fixes and have let him know that, and that it's possible the twitter app will break/breach the security/data privacy requirements and what happens after that.
