Energy Prices (Strictly NO referrals!)

A PC kicking out heat isn't efficient, the excess heat costs power, and electric costs more per kwh than gas does.

I can spin up a AAA game and the 3080 will heat the room pretty well, but it's also burning 0.5kw the whole time it's running.

It’s an added bonus if I’m going to game anyway though. It’s saved a lot of heating for me. If it wasn’t for the wife I’d rely on this entirely. Plus my hardware is much cooler.

I mean sure, but the heat isn't going to be as efficient at actually heating the whole house as a gas boiler will be.

If you're gaming anyway, then yes a small boost, no harm done. If you're gaming just to heat the house then doing it wrong!

It will be on App or if you login anyways without the email. At least with signing up I'm getting the 100pts each session if nothing else. And a chance to win big relative with the raffle.

Going to saving sessions from the app has never worked for me, I get the oops something went wrong message.

But I opted in manually on the website now from desktop.

Lol really! This could open a pandoras box

It's a genuine condition.

But there are chancers.

Has anybody from EDF had an email tonight offering to earn up to £100 by reducing how much electric is used between 4pm and 9pm? I've just had the email tonight and opted in, although I doubt I will be able to save much as my heating and oven are gas. Nevertheless, I've opted in.

Yes I've had the same email and opted in. :)

Only made £0.54 so far over the 2 sessions but are going to keep opting in to future ones as we have changed little as we have batteries and anything we get can buy off peak electricity for free

Our gas use data for November is in
Now that it is getting colder we are starting to use our gas heating more. But we used about 38% less in November 22 than last November, this cost us over double last's year November bill.

Just looked at my bank account and last months electric bill was £39 - add on £66 and that makes it £105 as against bills before where DD was £62 a month.

Mines all a little over the place cause I asked to be refunded of as much credit as I could at time.

So I have been billed the following
  • October 31st to November 24th Gas = £17.12
  • November 1st to 27th Electric = £39.73
  • Leaving £66 credit (not allowed that back due to Gov rules on it and minimum 1 month credit according to Octopus)
  • November 25th to 30th Gas = £5.05
  • November 28th to 30th = Predicted £4.98 (30th unknown and assumed 5.3kWh for that day based on previous days usage)
  • Leaving £55.97 credit
  • December £67 to be added on 2nd = £122.97 credit after November bills finalised
Going forward I am then on variable direct debit so nothing will be taken until my credit is depleted. So for December usage (Jan bill) I am looking at around £75 usage total with £67 credit again making my bill in Jan £8.65 out of the current credit amount. The next time I should have a bill come out is May usage/Junes bill where I expect my costs to go up to about £90.04 from the current £75.
