Eating turnips could help ease vegetable shortage, suggests Therese Coffey

Environment Secretary Therese Coffey has suggested turnips could be a suitable alternative while other vegetables remain in short supply.

Love a bacon lettuce and turnip sandwich.

Once you've fried up the the onion, carrot, beef, garlic etc pop a couple in the blender, add to the pan, and simmer for a Bolognese like you've never had before.
BLT, cooked, raw or pickled? If raw thin slices or grated?

Totally agree turnip sounds like a great addition to add body to ragu sauce. Plusgood.

Don't get people moaning about lack of fancy unseasonal veg in February, 1st world problems and all that. What's wrong with egg and chips or mince in gravy

Whilst I despise Coffey, eating in season fruit and veg is not a terrible idea.
It would be alright if it was part of a well thought out government policy backed up with education and dare I say it subsidies for British farmers producing the stuff but as usual it’s not it’s just a badly thought out knee jerk response to yet another disaster our inept government has managed to make worse rather than better!
