But did you ask someone if there’s stock? They might have had it in the back ready to bring fresh veg out for you.

can i just check...... i assumed you constantly asking this was a dry sense of humour...... but..... just checking this is the case and you are not serious.
what is most likely.
many supermarkets, that other than before covid i have never seen wiped out of certain veg over decades of shopping at them, all simultaniously missmanage themselves so badly that they let all tomatoes (not just 1 variety or pack size) run down to zero despite having pallets for in the back..........
OR
there is a shortage?
because my money is on if it looks like a duck and sounds like a duck...............................................

In my local CO-OP shelves are empty of veg etc. Its done to increase prices later just like they did with fuel. All planned in my opinion.

not sure slimy lettuce will fetch much of a premium.... I mean. I know one outlasted Lizzy truss but it didn't look appetising at the end

Impossible when I went to Lidl everyone was around the salad area and as soon as the stock got low it was loaded back up again. I stayed for 2 hours and watched them go back and forth topping up the salad section. Trays of salad everywhere.
