What TV shows are you currently watching

I don't see the point of why a person can't have a preference on how they consume their media.

I normally don't watch films/shows with subtitles unless they're really good. I don't enjoy being glued to the screen reading the whole time.

This...

I'd never dismiss TV & movies based on foreign language and subtitles - some of the best i've seen has been foreign.

However, I totally understand those who don't enjoy it and that's alright too - can't see why someone would force themselves to experience something that wasn't enjoyable.

Started watching "The Company You Keep" seems to be ABC's answer to Sneaky Pete.

It's a little more grown up than Sneaky Pete, and so far I prefer it. Obviously needs the watcher to let go of reality a little.

It gets a 7.3/10 on imdb. That's a tad generous. 6.9 would be my rating.

Also agree with this. Having to concentrate on subtitles the whole way through a show or film is very distracting and it's very rare that I will watch a foreign language programme because of this, though I'm sure they're just as good (and probably better in a lot of cases) than what passes for entertainment nowadays (also a generalised comment).

The only films with subtitles I've enjoyed were The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo trilogy but that was because I'd just finished reading the books, so I didn't have to concentrate so much on reading the subtitles. I've tried many times but I spend so much time reading I don't feel as though I've watched a movie, as all of the little visual details and cues created by the actors are missed.

We've watched two eps of the Diplomat. I think it's pretty cheesy and cheap-looking, not sure if we'll stick with it.

Give La Haine a go, it's a masterpiece.

If the player has the option, moving the subtitles towards the top half of the screen makes them easier to read and not miss too much of the actors. Unfortunately the smart TV apps for Netflix, Prime etc don't allow repositioning the subtitles.

My missus has taken to watching Yellowjackets in the evening...

Bit of a mess quite frankly. Can't make up its mind exactly what it wants to be with elements of Heathers, Lost, Alive, Cabin In The Woods/Evil Dead; Desperate Housewives and political drama in the current day.

Currently watched about 5 episodes of Season 1 and hoping it actually starts to make coherent sense at some point.

'Rabbit Hole', Kiefer Sutherland and Charles Dance, really enjoying this thriller/espionage-themed series.

Nothing is what it seems when John Weir, a master of deception in the world of corporate espionage, is framed for murder by powerful forces with the ability to influence and control populations.

Also working my way through Babylon 5 for the umpteenth time, well-written and acted sci-fi is such a refreshing joy to watch.

Finished Rabbit Hole. In the end it was a rubbish ending to a mediocre series. The flashbacks were overused as plot twists, even up till the very end. Tried too hard to be other much better shows and failed.

After a particularly rough night with one of my kids, I decided to give Dark another shot while he was sleeping on me. Originally watched the first episode and then never got any further. Holy moly, three episodes watched and I'm utterly hooked.
