What TV shows are you currently watching

I started watching the diplomat last night, its pretty decent, US/UK political drama, anyone that was into the west wing will like it, good pacing, some good humour in it too similar that way to WW too. Not the same quality of course, not sure anything can match that, but it *is* good IMO.
We have also started The Diplomat, 2 eps in and really enjoying it. Like you say moves along at a good pace.

Yes, just got one more episode to watch (only 8 in the series). I like the format, pacing dialogue and the bit of humour it is very much an ensemble cast like WW, and it has potentially very long legs. I've just looked it up and a 2nd series is confirmed. 8.1 on imdb means that I'm not the only one liking it.

Found Norseman on Netflix. Absolute daft and silly humour, right up my street. Only watched the first one but there are 3 series on there, hard to see how they can string out the theme for that long but will persevere.

Anyone here ever watched Strike Back, is an action-adventure/spy-drama television series based on the 2007 novel of the same name. The series follows the actions of Section 20, who operate several high risk, priority missions around the world. The six-part first series began broadcasting in 2010
After you posted, I looked it up and it looked to be my kinda show. Enjoyed S1 but things seems to be getting a little silly. I just watched S04E02 which was perhaps one of the silliest episodes of TV I've seen in some time. Martin Clunes shouldn't really have been cast there and his death is probably the worst acted I've ever seen on TV, it was almost comedic in nature, then the love interest gets hit with aa headshot and we have like two minutes of her dying in his arms whilst bullets fly all around?!. I'll keep watching (only just) but it definitely isn't 'great TV' at this point. It started well, so maybe it can come back.

Just finished 'Cruel Summer' it's a drama about teens but not really a 'teen drama' set in the 90s that jumps back forth between a couple of years. About a kidnapping and the aftermath. It was actually better than I expected. It gets a 7.5/10 on IMDB. I'd happily give it a 7.

This will flap a few heads but I have finally decided to watch all five seasons of The Wire. Watched first episode last night; very good.

I'm jealous you get to go through it all with fresh eyes. I can never work out which I prefer out of The Wire and The Sopranos so depending on the day you ask me it can change but these two are my #1 TV shows by some distance.

It can be a bit 'slow' but something is always happening with the story. S2 was the weakest out of the 5 for me but it's still an important season as it sets everything together.

My only tip when watching the Wire is to just pay attention. There is no filler and every line of dialogue matters. For example in a later series/episode there is a 2-5 second clip of a camera panning across a room and you see a certain character. If you see him, his character starts making a lot more sense but if you miss it, you'll never see it again and lose a lot of context to the character.

Fantastic show, enjoy the journey!

Slasher:Ripper. (Shudder)
Binge watched the latest season over the weekend. The victorian setting was nice change but the revenge thing is all getting a bit samey. Think they held back on the gore too.

Finished the Diplomat which actually grew on me by the end. Although she’s far too emotional for someone in that position.

Now wondering if it’s worth giving Yellowjackets a go. Anyone tried it?

Yellowjackets is a trip. I really enjoyed it. But then I didn't know what to expect going in. I thought it was just an another networks's version of Amazon's 'The Wilds.' It's not. It's far better.

Great and disturbing performance by Christina Ricci.

I'm being on my best behaviour and only watching only 2 eps a night and ensuring I stay focused. I know it's been applauded, likely rightly so. Quite a slog ahead of me however!

haha just wait, it gets far weirder. It came out a similar time to 'The Wilds' but is much darker, and of course is massively more multi-faceted. Christina Ricci is brilliant. Juliet Lewis plays Juliet Lewis as she does in practically every film and show she's in.
(Yellowjackets)
Caught up to the middle of the second season and yes, definitely something of a mind job going on.
Mind at this point there really ought to be a bit more denouement going on to fill in some of the plot holes, like how they actually got rescued though...
At this point I still tend to come down on the theory that they all died in the crash and the events in the wilderness and subsequent "lives" up to the present day are part of some purgatorial afterdeath experience. Otherwise there is just too much that can't be explained rationally:
1. Aircraft don't tend to fly 600 miles off course for no reason and technology in 1996 as regards flight tracking etc. was still pretty sophisticated to have an idea of where it went down.
2. Yes Misty sabotaged the black box/transponder (is that really possible?) but again in 1996 a satellite would easily have picked up the wreckage and downed plane.
3. The cabin unlikely to have been built without some sort of access, a trail or dirt road, to get equipment and materials in.
4. There is no way after he wandered off, Travis' younger brother could have survived several weeks stranded in the cold, with no equipment or food.
5. There is zero coverage in the story of the efforts made by the authorities and families of the crash victims to locate them and the downed plane.

Definitley get the vibe this is going to end up like Jacob's Ladder, or that movie where the WWII airmen were camped around their crashed plane in the desert playing baseball, but one by one disappeared as their bodies were found - eventually just leaving one "ghost" who's body was off by the tail section and never found.
Hopefully the next episode on Friday will start to unravel the threads a bit; the biggest fear with a series like this is it suddenly getting cancelled leaving the audience none the wiser as to what it was all about.
And yes, JL is sscary as hell, not least because she is increasinly a ringer for her old man!

I started both yellowjackets and will trent last night, enjoying both for very different reasons. Was off work today so continued with yellowjackets and have done the first 5.

Yellowjackets episodes are around ar hr each which is great. It's an interesting storyline, which has moved from a straightfoward gruesome secret to hinting at something more complex and I'm not entirely clear what that is.

Netflix's Physical 100
Seems pretty cool after the first episode, didn't know what to expect beforehand haha
I watched a few of them but soon got bored. Good idea but its very poorly done. The constant action replays are so tedious. I binned it off and incidentally noticed that Netlfix now allows you to cull your disinterested TV shows from your continue watching list now without having to log into the desktop site. It's probably been a thing for while though :D
