Something often overlooked I think a significant motivation for Putin with this war is the fact that Ukraine was moving Westward and improving its standards of living, social freedoms, etc. etc. as it did so making for a marked contrast to Russia - something which threatens Putin due to the links between the two countries (meaning it is harder to hide the disparity domestically).

Dragging Ukraine down and having them mired in a frozen conflict suits him fine in that respect and somewhat drags the West into it economically supporting Ukraine as well.

I can see Putin trying to engineer a provocation resulting in a NATO clash with Russian forces even at huge loss of Russian lives to be able to sell it domestically as to how they are defending against NATO aggression and fighting the whole of NATO when pulling back to defensive positions along their western border.

Nato and the West cannot lose with another cold war. We don't actually need anything Russia produces and like '45 to '89, it just saps Russia's ability to keep up with technology and living standards.

If it happens it will be another iron curtain stalemate until Russia capitulates. Perhaps time is the only solution , another president or two and we may get a Gorbachev in power.

More of the West's production will be diverted to armaments which will reduce our lifestyle a little bit but nothing like the opposing side.

I don't think that this war will end in a hammer blow at least.

I don't think we've seen much Ukranian counter offensive action yet.

I think Russia is now dug in with 300,000 troops, the US military would be able to dislodge them but not much else. From a strategic point of view Ukraine would be risking a lot of men and equipment to fight the kind of large scale offensive required, which obviously comprises it's ability to defend the territory it still holds.

What do you think is going to happen? the moment one side or the other lets up the other side is just going to push. Or are you still under the delusion somehow peace talks can happen which aren't complete capitulation?

General Roar87, fresh out from Social media school is our new intelligence officer.

Kind of hilarious, he's really trying his best to appear reasonable but the posts reek of "capitulation" and considering who his hero's are it isn't surprising.

Say acquiesce to Russian aggression without saying acquiesce to Russian aggression.
