I cannot see how it's tenable to sign a player that publicly has said he doesn't want to play for you. United have signed far too many players who were coming for the money and it never worked. At least now we are getting players that either want to work with ten Hag or join the club. Odds of Caicedo making a successful next step in his career are higher with Klopp and Liverpool than at Chelsea. Nothing against Poch but he's likely to be out of there in 12 months and Chelsea always want a new shiny thing. The game is crazy, ruined with money but I'm still stoked for the new season!!
Yup, IF that statement by Caicedo is real then there is no path for him at Liverpool. Theres no point in signing someone who doesnt really want to be there, especially for 110m. Best thing we can do now is walk away from a Caicedo deal asap and get the ball moving on alternative signings before we have to do too many matches with the weakened midfield.
Well doesn't look like they'll be paying anything for Mbappe in terms of a fee, so I'm sure some man maths can make it work

You'd think we'd have had some discussion with the agent since Romano claimed he only wants Chelsea. Considering we haven't pulled out it indicates (to me anyway) the whole Chelsea or no one is ******

This is where things all get very convoluted, the majority of people and fans (on both sides) now believe today that Caicedo has indeed said that he doesnt want to join Liverpool and only wants to join Chelsea. Now, if that is false, then Caicedo could stop everyone thinking he said it by simply releasing a statement saying "That quote is untrue, I never said it". The longer Caicedo says nothing about it, the more weight it gives it being a real thing he said.
I still don't have any particular issue with what Caicedo said. If he shook hands on a move to Chelsea and is now standing by that, then good on him - it shows that he's a man of his word. If Chelsea now can't agree terms with Brighton, and he moves to us as his second choice, then again I see that as OK. I reiterate that there is a big difference between "I don't want you" and "I want you but I'd prefer them".
But by all accounts we got the nod from his agent. From what i can tell his agent signed off on the deal then pulled out this morning!
Of course. If, as usual, the agent and possibly the player gets a cut of the transfer fee then any increase in the fee nets them both more money. Could just be a tactic to get more from Chelsea.
