The Liverpool Club Thread. **No Spoilers**

As I suspected a few weeks back, the opening on the new Anfield Road stand has been delayed:

The whole upper tier will be closed for the Bournemouth game and then the plan is to gradually open up more and more of it over the next few home games, hoping it's fully ready by October.

No surprise, was in the area a few weeks back and no way was it going to be finished by the Bournemouth game.

Trent makes perfect sense to me. In 2-3 years when VVD either isn't around or not in the side every week, Trent will be 26/27 and at the perfect age to take on the role as captain. I'd also like to think the added responsibility will help him with his game too. The kid is a genius and is capable of doing things on the ball that most players couldn't dream of but at times he doesn't do the basics well enough, now he has to and I think he will.

FSG really are having us all for a bunch of *****

I know some are supportive and they have brought stability but come on, £3Bn in increased value, £50m ish off the wage bill, one of the best managers ever and they are just going to sit there and let us become mediocre

It’s really concerning the lack of players coming in. The two we got are amazing which is good

However so many out, many millions saved from the wage bill yet we’re close so close to start of the season we lack any form of natural DM player

Fab and Hendo are massive loses and personally I don’t think club backed on losing one let alone both.

FSG have to spend and quickly longer it goes more pressure and no doubt clubs will want more cash too.

For what it’s worth I think everything they have done over all for the club is great

Getting rid of Fab and Hendo was the right decision, but we should have had the replacements here by now. We're only a week away from our first match and we have no holding midfielders that are fit to play.

The plan for signing a defender also seems to have gone nowhere.

I’m not saying it was right or wrong. I agree since chance came up to sell them it’s best thing to do due to age and form etc

I don’t think the club or Klopp expected both in the same summer though.

Even if we get Lavia we’re still one short and a defender is still needed.

None of this happens it will just cause more criticism at FSG door

Now any selling club will know we're desparate as well, so the price of every target has gone up by at least 20%.

When we splashed 95m quite early on in the window I actually thought that maybe I was wrong and FSG were actually going to back Klopp weightily in the transfer market but since that 95m spent, its not progressed. Looks like Klopp only ever had 150m to spend and with the number of midfielders who departed and the need for a CB on top of that, a budget of that size isnt going to be enough to fill the gaps.

Started efficiently in the market but it's been embarrassing ever since. There's a decent chance we won't be able to sign any new players this window.

Its ridiculous. Going public with bids only for the player to turn us down. Looks to be the same with Lavia aswell.

How? We agreed a deal for the player, he agreed to the terms, Chelsea then offered double the wages and a nice fat 25 million to the agent..

Yeah the same is probably happening with Lavia. We could have closed the Lavia deal weeks ago but we kept on waiting and now we might miss out on him as well.

Maybe we should be offering market wages for the players then. If we offer half of what someone else is willing to pay of course we're not going to get the player. We could have closed the deals weeks ago, but we kept waiting and waiting for everyone else to drop out of the race, to maybe save a tiny bit on the transfer fee and now we're losing our targets left and right.

We should take responsibility when we repeatedly miss out on major targets. Last year with Tchouameni. Now with Caicedo. And maybe Lavia too.

And when we don't sign anyone the same crew will always come and say "oh we tried, the player didn't pick us. What is there to criticise?"

We still haven't signed a defender either.
