Notting Hill Carnival

It's not my kind of thing but I can appreciate why many people love it. I used to live quite close and could hear it. Back in the 80's and 90's the crime was a lot worse than now, so to me it seems relatively safe now despite the mass stabbings.

The obvious solutions to idiots running around with machetes is to take them, put them on a boat, drive out to the middle of the ocean and throw them into the water.

Probably take the organizers there also.

Edit: You sail a boat, apparently, even if its not a sailboat...

Just throw them into any of the dozens of abandoned tin mines in Cornwall. Much cheaper and greener.

Problem with that is the coast gurd would pick them up and bring them back to start a fresh.

People are afraid of the unknown, so it's easy to read something in the news and then apply that, in this case, to the whole event/festival.
The actual reality from someone that's been a handful of times is that it's perfectly fine other than it's stupidly busy, which may not appeal to those that struggle with crowds, and i was more worried about pickpocketing (no worse that roaming through Piccadilly though) than getting shot or stabbed.

Similar has happened at other festivals though - someone got stabbed at reading a few years back, same with Creamfields and Global Gathering.

There is always carnage on Mondays at Notting hill festival. People behave like animals and leave the place an absolute **** tip as well.
 
Haven't been for a few years. Wanted to go this year but life with a little one makes it challenging. Will pawn her off with the grandmother and go next

I'm surprised you don't venture further than your front door given there's been a few incidents in your neck of town over the years :cry:

Your statements aren't borne out by the facts. There are far more violent incidents at it than any other festivals.

Yes but the incidences of a violent crime at Notting Hill are more likely. Hence why people want to avoid that crapfest.
Stabbings are very rare at other festivals.
 
Why do we never see the organisers condemn this illegal behaviour?

This is why it keeps happening because as long as it's tolerated the people with bad intentions won't stop.

If any other race or culture had an event that had this much criminality going on then the sensible voices of that community would be speaking up.
