***The Official Starfield Thread*** (As endorsed by TNA)

So managed to find two bits of blue loot, right at the start, and one of them is a helmet that when I'm stationary, cloaks me. :D I have a permanent stealth boy when crouched! :D

The other was a laser pistol which was handy as I started with the laser skill, although very little ammo.

Enjoying it so far but do miss HDR.

The visuals are good and at 4K FSR on with 75% scaling looks good, though may opt for native if FPS stays in my monitor VRR range.

I had zero expectations other than a strong story driven Bethesda RPG and that’s what is delivered.

Yeah, I’m not quite feeling this so far. Be very surprised if it wins GOTY.

Now that I couldn’t give a toss about.

On the plus side, despite a few gripes the world and RPG elements have been great so far. It’s worth spending some time on NA, doing some activities and listening to conversations.

4 hours later, I think I need breakfast :p

Here's some info for anyone experiencing the same issue - I was getting freeze and CTD when walking through the doors in the image below, and I've worked out that it's the upscaling that's causing it - FSR2.

It's now switched off and I'm able to walk on ..

FSR does mean Fails to Switch Rooms. It’s your own fault for leaving it enabled

Whilst smaller, obviously, the longer I spend in NA the more alive it feels than Night City. I know it’s all scripted, but they’ve added a lot of interactions and NPC routines that help. I like the new quests and dialogue options that appear off the back of these conversations too.

The space flight part might as well have been left out for me, not loving that. Fire up this and that….oh fo just take me there already.

The main game part is actually quite good so far though.

Need to sort out a decent set of gfx options, or find someone with a similar rig who has done it already. 5600, 6800xt with 32gb@3600, lowish end I guess.

I look forward to playing this in a few months when all you beta testers have found all the problems. At least most of us got it free so we cant complain :p

Define 'free'

Got two on my bingo card:

"Loving it so far smileyface"
"Thanks for beta testing"

Why is this so demanding? It doesn't look that wonderful, or look like it's doing anything that special AI wise..
Nothing I have seen so far for the game suggests why this game should be this heavy on the GPU especially when compared to other open world games like Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher 3 or Red Dead Redemption 2 - the game doesn't even use any ray tracing :(

well it looks like I am good for 2k native at ultra with my 7900xt with no issues at all

I suspect there will be driver or engine optimisations at some point
