Ok I need a keyboard tray thing due to distance from desk with this HOSAS set up, that is fine.
I read something somewhere about you should delete the cache folder at certain points, is that just for major patches?
 
As i have not been following this game at all really

I wanted to wait until it came out of Beta, and into a retail release
i have just gone to the website and noticed you can now sign up and pay for a starter pack, so i guess its been released properly now then ?
a little confused i might add

You've been able to do that for years. It's how people have been playing the game :)
 
That ^^^^

Its in open development, it gets major updates to add new content every 3 months and smaller ones between, this can also make it quite buggy, but many of us have been playing it and watching it grow in that way for years.

Edit: i should probably add.... The way most games are made is through a publisher with a publisher budget and you get to buy it and play it when its done, others are crowed funded in the sense that you give a developer some money and they use it to make a game and you get to play that when its done.

With this you buy a game packed, they use that money to help fund the development of the game but in this case you get to play what they have made so far, so they publish what they made as they make it.

It's in alpha but has large chunks of it playable.
Beta - who knows how far off that is really, could be years.
Release - Maybe my daughter will be able to play that before she retires (she's 13).

I'll be honest, there's a lot of broken gameplay loops, bugs etc and I get pretty annoyed at it most days I play BUT there are plenty of times you can play for 2-3 hours without a hitch and it's genuinely more fun than 99% of so called "AAA" games out there even in it's current state. Playing a game in development which is genuinely trying to push gaming tech forward is pretty cool.

That being said I don't recommend anyone buy in until it's released unless you are willing to gamble with that money disappearing and you getting nothing back, don't consider this an investment, it's a gamble and please, please do not buy individual ships. Use the money to buy peripherals if you want to improve your gameplay like the Tobii eye tracker, HOTAS, pedals etc. Buying ships with real cash is a waste IMHO as you can earn them in game.
 
You'd need to wait until the next free fly event, one just happened unfortunately and I'm not sure if there's one over Christmas, which would make sense - maybe?

Any of the guys know when it's due? they have them a few times a year.
 
I swear the arena commander or w/e it's called makes the ship handle differently. If I don't touch any controls the ship is moving in all directions a bit like if controls were poorly calibrated, yet in the normal game it is steady.

Unless you are in one of the master modes options in AC then they are the same ship controls etc.
 
Bought a Hercules starlifter earlier,

Jesus Christ - what a machine, just walking around inside it is incredible, the amount of detail that went into it is mad.

Hoping to shift some cargo tomorrow to try and get some real money flowing..

Merry Xmas and a happy new year.


It’s been a great year for this game with the introduction to some important CORE tech and milestones being hit.

The citcom got me super hyped about what’s to come in 2024 and beyond and if they managed to release just 1/3 of what was shown in citcom by this time next year. That would already signify such an amazing 2024.

As the player base in OCUK grows , i think it maybe time we consider creating an actual OCUK org?

I know some of us are in orgs alread(me included ) but the beauty of SC right now is that you can be a member of multiple and i think we should consider a OCUK org and organise say a bi weekly events where most can join?

Anyways cheers to u all and hope for an amazing time in SC next year!!

Yeah thanks all. Especially Mendoza for making me spend over a grand on joystick hardware.

Edit. ****, didn't realise it was Xmas tomorrow such is my excitement of it.

An OcUK org sounds like a good idea.
 
PAGAN was always intended to be an OCUK org but happy to join another if someone forms one tbh. I'm not precious about orgs, more who I play with when I can actually get on!

TBH - Do we just need someone to create an OCUK SC discord server? I mean that's basically the missing link at the moment, orgs offer nothing in-game really.
