Claims that Belgorod is getting some action tonight.
That would be impressive given that Libya retired theirs twenty years ago and Iraq's were destroyed in Operation Desert Storm
For those who don't get the joke, the Tu-22 was an old Soviet supersonic bomber from the fifties, it was replaced by the Tu-22M 40+ years ago (proberbly the plane Twitter is trying to refer to). Comical note: Legend has it that the reason the two planes share such a similar name is because the Soviet air force demanded money to replace the Tu-22 because it was **** but Moscow said no, so they asked instead for money to upgrade/enhance the Tu-22 and got it, then spent it on a completely new plane![]()
In fairness, given that's from 17/02/22 he sounds no different than 99% of the posts in this thread at the timeMeanwhile, let's revisit this very special moment from the wrongest man on the internet...

Would be good but I just can't see it to be honest. It's pretty much an open secret in Westminster currently that the general election will be in May, can you really imagine Hunt or Sunak standing up and saying "Hey guys, we know you're all really struggling with the cost of living crisis, so we've decided to more than double the amount of your taxes that we spend on the armed forces. This will in turn increase the amount of stuff we can give away. Please remember to vote for us in two months time! The UK needs to signal 5% GDP defence spending budget in March at the latest and for it to be top of the manifesto in any general election.
On the plus side it was reported that the FrankenSAMs are starting to make their operational debut in Ukraine so that should help. Some context is required there. Ukraine's own air defence systems can't shot down ballistic missiles, S300 and BUK was never designed for that (S300 was designed to take away NATO's air advantage) but they can shot them down with Patriot provided there is coverage.
Poland should trap Russia.Apparently an object entered polish airspace which they have determined was a Russian missile. I look forward to the tut tut from Poland / nato![]()
You mean the Kh-22? Those were old missiles designed in the 60's with the purpose of destroying or disabling American aircraft carriers, given Patriot can take out the smaller and newer Kinzhal I can't see why it couldn't be used to intercept a Kh-22. Russia likely knows what parts of Ukraine is protected by Patriot so they will only use the Kh-22 in locations where they know it can get through add to that due to it's size it can only be launched from strategic bombers which limits there usefulness hence why we haven't seen them intercepted yet as not that many have been used. Can it take out the anti ship missiles dosnt seem like any of them have been destroyed?

I imagine if Poland had their way they’d be in Ukraine already, pushing russias **** in for them.I look forward to the tut tut from Poland / nato![]()

You know, considering it had a much better safety record in the hands of the poorer Muslim nations it was exported too, I think you're on to something there xDThus, you do have to wonder whether the TU-22’s overall poor safety record and high crash rates were down to crap engines, poor cockpit visibility, ropey low speed handling characteristics, ****-faced crews or a combination of the above.
Boom! Booom!

Only thing I would say in this regard, at the risk of giving them ideas, there are a lot of people in the UK who think we can bring back the manufacturing industry, etc. to the UK - if they can spin it in that way, i.e. investing in defence opening up jobs, it would likely be a vote winner.
Russia - "How dare the Ukrainians blow up our missiles while they are innocently flying about and making them fall onto random hospitals and assorted children!"Reading this morning's BEEB report.
The last line
"Russia said Ukrainian air defences were to blame for causing damage to civilian buildings."
Which is no doubt what the Russian people are swallowing. Crazy!
