The jobs went because as an advanced economy with growing living standards the basic manufacturing jobs couldn't pay people enough, and if they did it would be non viable to manufacture due to cost.

You are correct but the reason why doesn't matter, the point is Trump is wrong, the jobs were not stolen. As mentioned Asia didn't just overnight have all the tools and knowledge to produce all these things, America decided to open trade and trade with countries it did not before and then it gave away all the knowledge and tools and told them well buy the products from you at lower prices

Trump force Vlad the mad, how naive are you, Putin tells Trump what to do not the other way about.
No offense intended, but that's just Facebook grade drivel.

Trump may be a muppet but he made Putin his ***** multiple times during his last presidency, it was the whole reason Putin did nothing to advance his interest in Ukraine from 2016-2020*, he dipped his toe in challenging Trump in Syria and had his pants pulled down and his anus violated right in front of Assad, he never tried again.

*And you can bet he would have been into Ukraine much sooner after Trump left office if it hadn't been for COVID.

Russia has been at war with Ukraine since 2014. Trump was president from 2017.

But now he's going to stop the war? When he couldn't stop it when he was president? Genius logic!
See above. Putin did absolutely nothing to advance his position in Ukraine during the Trump presidency, he didn't have the stones, even Putler knew better than to mess with crazy.

Can he survive these losses if the general Russian population ever get to hear the truth?
The big problem is, even if the Russian population somehow got told the truth, AND the believed it, and it happened before this years election.

The sad reality is all of the possible candidates to replace Putin are either just as bad or worse :(

Case in point, here's the current Russian approval poll rankings (the legit ones not the Kremlin PR that shows Vlad on 90%):

  1. Putin (37%) - Needs no introduction.
  2. Mishustin (16.6%) - Putin's Prime Minister.
  3. Lavrov (15.4%) - Putin's Foreign Minister (and the scumbag who negotiated the Budapest memorandum with Ukraine "in good faith").
  4. Shoigu (8%) - Putin's Defence Minister).
  5. Zyuganov (3%) - The leader of the Communist party, who think Putin is being too soft on Ukraine.
  6. Volodin (2.7%) - Putin's Duma (parliament) chairman.
  7. Mironov (1.7%) - Leader of the closest thing to an opposition party Russia has, not running in the election.
  8. Grudinin (1.4%) - Zyuganov's second in command in the CCP.
  9. Navalny (1.3%) - The first person on the list the west likes, in prison, not running in the election.
  10. Bondarenko (0.8%) - Another CCP man.

As you can see, even if the unthinkable happened and Putin was forced to resign by overwhelming public outcry it's not like Russia would really get better :(

It's worth noting as I haven't seen it mentioned yet.

Today is Unity day in Ukraine, the anniversary of when the Ukrainian People's Republic and the West Ukrainian People's Republic merged in 1919 to create a single unified Ukrainian state.

Obviously that doesn't gel well with Russia's version of Ukraine's history, but that's because Russia's version is ****.

More to the point, not defending Taiwan means handing the jobs and tech to China. Some of it critical for national security.

Given what he’s said about China in the past, it seems strange.

And that’s putting it very kindly.

Economy strong, awesome system, great success! :)) Always nice for some poor bloke to slave away so others have cheap stuff!

They sold it for $7 million ($125 million indexed) and its now worth $37 billion plus lots of untapped oil and who knows what else there, just to keep the British out of the Pacific

Looks like quite a sizeable strategic bomber attack by Russia tonight - not much detail yet aside from the take-offs earlier but given how much NATO has put up to monitor, more than usual, I'm guessing it is significant.

EDIT: Some reports of large explosions over Kyiv and Kharkiv around 15-20 minutes ago, unknown if intercepts or impacts.

What's the argument here? That the left doesn't criticise Russia?

I'm sure you will be able to find some out there on Twitter who don't, but in general that's ******** isn't it?
I thought we'd switched sides on this? In the 80s the left supported russia I'm the 20's rhe right now supports Russia?

Horseshoe theory, now the extremes of Left and Right support Russia, because both groups now find their commonalities over the country in authoritarianism rather than their differences in economic theory (especially since Russia is a right wing capitalist economy rather than a left wing communist economy now anyway)

I'm probably not immune to some degree of it myself, but I will never understand how some can be so blinded by ideology and/or belief.
