******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

Looking at getting a HOTAS as I tried a mates Thrustmaster T16000M stick and throttle and in action it was really good for Star Citizen but the material and build quality felt like something I'd give to my 1 year old nephew.

Any good stick and throttle combos that aren't ludicrously priced ?

There's two standard choices for sticks when going for the next level, VKB or Virpil. They're both a massive improvement over the t1600's.

VKB Gladiator NXT EVO's is what I use and are generally seen as the go to for many. Fantastic and at the sweet spot for cost/product.

Virpil Constellation Alpha's are another step up in quality and price but I believe there's strong diminishing returns for the cost. They are a different shape and size though so it's very much preference. The stick and base unit are bought individually with Virpil. I know multiple people that moved from the Glads to Constellations and are really happy with the move.

There are other models from both depending on what you want and how you're going to use them. And they all have a ton of reviews, breakdowns etc. around the place to watch / read. Somewhere in this crazy thread I've written thoughts on my VKBs and they've both been talked about.

Pedals I went with normal racing style from Fanatec CSL and they're bomb proof but a lot of people go for rudder style pedals which are far more fitting for flight sims.

I've been window shopping, Had a look at VKB and Virpil and I think I'm going with a Virpil Constellation Alpha Prime stick and Mongoose throttle, I also play MSFS so a throttle would be a lot more useful than a 2nd stick for a HOSAS setup.

Totally doesn't have serial killer "I ate the pilots liver" vibes :D

I own the Mongoose CM2 throttle and WarBRD base with Mongoos T-50Cm Grip, I highly recommend virpil the best flight sim hardware I have used. VKB are also very good but you will end up paying TAX and Fedex fees.

I also highly recommend the VKB pedals super smooth and small footprint

I didn't pay tax or fedex fees into the UK for my vkb's. Virpil do have a UK store now though as well.

@Dicehunter Remember you need a stick and base unit if you're going Virpil :) I'd need to check the models but some of the bases are designed to be further away from you, aka between your legs in a simpit, rather than desk / chair mounted.

I believe both makes allow you to lock different axis out on the sticks, so you can turn a 'normal' stick into a throttle only.

Yep yep, Going to be getting the WarBRD-D base for the stick, Comes with a nice 4 point plate for desk use :)

tutorial done

I know its Alpha but the tutorial could have been better, it was not easy to follow
the blue nav you need to follow around sometimes you just cant find it/see it, really frustrating

i don't like burdening you guys to help me get to grips with this game but feel free to add me if you want another member on your friends lists

SC name is my forum name
Thanks
