******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

Is there anything on the roadman regarding improving the 'jank' ? Delay in interactions, animations, movement and general 'flow' ? I suspect some of it will improve with the overall server improvements, but it adds to the overall feeling of clunkyness.

Yea 3.23 addresses some of the fps jank. Check out the recent inside star citizen video

They need to do a texture pass I feel , Game is looking dated now.
In that vid looks like a 2010 game !

Star Citizen looks very different to Squadron 42, yes it needs a graphics update pass and it is getting one.

Glad to see this is making some moves (yet to see the proof), shame I and many others lost interest 10 years ago when the original release window flew past.

I was very much in the "scam citizen" camp, thinking it was a great idea but that it would never be anything more than a demo. This comes mostly from the complaints of a former RSI employee that I know but various articles etc as well. Then out of sheer boredom I tried it in the last free fly event and I've seen the light! Rather I've seen the vision and I'm 100% in!

What I mean is, there's a game here. Yes, it's pretty bare bones in a lot of places but there's absolutely nothing else quite like it. But, it's what this is going to become that's got me.

Ironically I'm probably a bit of a skeptic these days despite being around since day one. I did a series of vids on my youtube about the early days of development and looking back at some of the promises, dates and what we have now it's pretty clear there was a lot of nonsense and inconsistency coming from CIG. It got better as time went on and it became clear what realistic timescales looked like but they also got better as just avoiding hard timescales.

Don't get me wrong I don't regret backing, but I'm not a fan of the marketing FOMO tactics, referral system etc. They are one step away from cryptobros at times. However game wise I think for years I've seen it as ground breaking, it just keeps getting better and better.

Key thing for me now is that I can genuinely have fun with friends, chill on my own or talk to strangers in game and crew their ships. The pieces are starting to slot together.

They, CIG I mean, don't have the best reputation in that regard for sure. It certainly contributed to my unbridled skepticism. I've already felt the urge to spend that little bit more on upgrading my Cutter to the Titan for that extra bit of flexibility for just £15 more but I'm not going down that path as its a slippery slope to eventually spending hundreds if not thousands.

It is good fun though, bugs and all. Last night I logged back in to my Cutter, to find a very confused player trapped inside with me, it was utterly hilarious, his ship was just gone. I ended up giving the guy a lift lol.

CIG are using every tactic in the book to make as much money as they can, nothing intrinsically wrong with that, they want to make money, but they also want to make a game, its not a scam :)

It has many problems, i have many complaints of my own and when i get frustrated enough i voice them, here and spectrum, i've had posts deleted and warnings on spectrum, in my opinion they haven't always been squeaky clean and honest, they have played faul from time to time.

This however is no different to about 90% of publishers / game developers, and a few of them are quite a lot worse, you want to see the biggest pile of lies and insults to it user base in this genre look no further than Bethesda, and to a lesser extent Frontier Developments.

At least CIG are making promises of ground breaking stuff and are actually trying to do it, with quite a lot of success so far.
